James Wang article on brushed motors for concept

Fellas, anybody read James Wang article on "brushed motors" in electric helicopters. The "Trinity D4 Modifieds" in particular. I was wondering what you guys think about that set-up for a EP Concept, the new version with the flapping head. It is in the S&E Modeler May, 2001 edition. Or is brushless really the way to go ?
And if so what do you recommend that I get. I want totally drop in stuff where I do not have to make almost no modifications whatsoever.

Thanks, Mark
