Sky Viper R/C Quadcopter

Was at walmart today and they had a nice looking quad. Sky viper 6 axis with a removeable foam ring. It has a jst battery connector and says "hobby grade" on the box. Anyone try it yet? It was $69

This one?

No hobby grade.
Another V262 clone, but 14 USD cheaper than a delivered 262 and you won't have to wait 3 weeks for delivery.

How about getting one and making a review?

Yes thats the one. I almost bought it but I just ordered a FQ from Massive this last weekend and my R/C funds for the month are taxed.

The nice thing is if you buy it from walmart you only have to buy it once. If you smash it up just jam it back in the box and go get a new one. I returned about a half dozen airhogs biplanes to toys r us that way. Walmart will return everything.

I'll probably buy one to see if it passes muster. My feelings are torn. If it does stand up in performance-features to the V262 then that's good for everyone as that's what the retail chains should have been selling for years instead of overpriced Syma coax helis. The Air Hogs ducted one really didn't bother me when it was announced. It's bad in that it could eventually mean the downfall of MassiveRC and other vendors.

Well ... I don't think in the futur, such "big" seller such walmart will massively resist to all internet/drive shops. Don't be worry if such "hit" reach this kind of shop. You will have more addict later for massiveRC

Thanks SBD.

This one looks more like a V212 sized one or maybe inbetween the V212 and V262. Look at it compared to the guy's hand:

Looks like 1S to me (sigh of relief)

Yeah, that thing looks small compared to the V262:

That's a clone of the syma x1, the motor holders are the same, props are installed the same (with a screw on the top). It's like the X1 with the foamy thing.
Let's hope they are using at least 8.5mm motors and not the 7mm ones.

If that's the case $69.00 seem expensive now

dimensions say 16" diagonal, which is about 11.3 inches (280mm) end to end.

That makes it much smaller than the v262.

It is the same size as a V212. The box says it has a 500mah lipo. It does look like a syma x1 but has 2 bodies. The foam ring and a ufo style one. They label the foam one for "indoor" and the ufo style one for outside when doing stunts. The TX has a dial to set for beginner or expert mode. The tx also has a switch that tells it what body your using. And its 6 axis. I thought it looked well built but that was just looking through the box window. The price is high but it is cheaper than the airhog version. Just my .02

Sky Viper

I am the engineer at Skyrocket that worked on this quad. It has superior avionics to the Syma as we are using a 3-axis gyro and a 3 axis accelerometer. Because we have to carry the weight of the body if you remove the body you can carry a 15g camera no problem. It is not a clone, it is original tooling and uses different software than any of the other quads in the market. The performance is better than any of other quads in this price range. It also comes with a wall charger for the Lipo. We will be selling cheap replacement batteries and bodies. Please call us and don't return it if you smash it up, we will help you out with replacement parts very affordably.
