My son's first flight with his Apprentice S 15e RTF with SAFE Technology. He's been practicing on my RealFlight simulator and can stay in the air using just rudder and elevator and throttle management on the Hobbico NexStar EP plane on RF, but hasn't learned to land yet or maintain a constant flight routine in the pattern, but he has fun and I don't want to discourage him. The Apprentice has three settings for training on. The first setting is for his experience in that it doesn't allow wild movements with stick movement and maintains a nice stable level flight. The SAFE system doesn't allow for much rudder movement, so I told him to use the aileron stick like he was using the rudder stick and it worked out great. The SAFE system automatically gives elevator input when the ailerons are used and my son was able to make nice slow turns with the ailerons. I really like the SAFE system to start him off on, because it allows me to relax while he flies and he becomes more relaxed in flying a real plane instead of a simulator. He likes to do loops and rolls and the SAFE system doesn't allow this on the first two settings so I take the plane up several mistake high and let him go to town on loops and rolls. When my nerves have had enough I can flip the switch back to one and he can fly on his own and I can calm my nerves.
