Popwing combat and crops
I was thinking about us possibly suspending Popwing combat until the soybeans are harvested in the fall. I'm suggesting that because the Popwings (and their pieces) will disappear if they fall in the soybeans. What do you guys think... agree or disagree? Discuss!

I can hear it now... Daughter: Hey Dad! Did you have fun at the flying field today? Me: Yep! It was a great time! Daughter: Did you crash anything? Me: Nope! It was a good day of flying! Daughter: Hey...I remember that you have that airplane that you said you try to crash into other airplanes. Me: Yep! I still have it! It has been crashed a few times, but it is easy to fix. Yes, my daughter, there is nothing like the feeling of taking your frustrations out on somebody else's airplane! Somehow the carnage that results from our little combat sessions gives you a great sense of freedom and satisfaction. There is no fear that you will crash because that is what you are TRYING to do! There is no fear of ruining a friends day because you caused his airplane to crash because he was not afraid to try to make me crash! There is no fear that we will spend a lot of money on fixing the airplane because they are cheap and easy to fix! Daughter: That was a great speech, Dad! Me: Thanks, Daughter! Let me just conclude by saying that I think the reason we do those combat sessions with those cheap airplanes is because there is great satisfaction in not being afraid of anything - even if it is for such a short time. Daughter: Great! So...did you fly that airplane and try to crash into somebody today? Me: Um....no. Daughter: Why Not? Me: Um...because we were afraid of the beans that were planted in the field... |

Suspending popwing combat? Just do it over the pits, no beans there.

I guess some will and some won't?

How about some "jousting" type combat down the runway?

Never claimed it would be a good idea.

That reminds me of wings-off runway drag racing from a club I belonged to years ago. Fun to watch, but many of the out-of-control fuselages would get completely destroyed, and all spectators really needed to pay attention.
There were no beans for miles around if I remember correctly... Mike. |

or Two Popwings at a time (one coming down the runway from one end and one from the other - to meet in the middle - "monojoust")? We could have a set number of passes from one set of Popwings before the next set takes their turn, or when the jousters from the previous set have finished picking up the pieces. Taking video of the event from behind the pilot stations should give excellent results since the carnage will be closer, and you can better predict where the foam explosion is going to be. I am starting to like the "joust" idea! |
