How do you tell how many amps you can pull out of a li-poly battery?


I was wounder how to find out how to see how many amps can be pulled out of a battery.

If you really have to abuse a pack until it explodes in your face, put a Whattmeter in line, connect a Hacker C50 Acro with a 22" prop on it, then, while dutifully recording the amps-in, wait for the fireworks.

Otherwise: Read the manufacturer's recommendations for maximum discharge and follow them!

Nimble with Gimbals
1. Determine "C" rating on pack or cells in question.
2. Determine capacity of said pack or cell.
3. Multiply C times capacity.


Example:

Kokam 1500 cells are rated at 8C. 8 times 1500 equals 12 amps so you would prop/gear for 12A at wide open throttle.

Simple, huh?
