Here's the 6x4.5's cut to 5". Much better props I'm getting the thrust I want with these but slight heating problems. I really want an 1805 or 1806!!! Shaun these cut down props should work perfect with your 2204's! The 5x4.5 triples sound like a mosquito, these are much quieter, even hacked up!

Original 6" and cut to 5"

"8x5 Bowties" HQ Prop 8x5 cut to 5". These will work on the 1704's and 1804's on 2S and probably a 2204 best.
I need a thrust stand to see if these or the 6x4.5's work best on 2S with 1704 / 1804 motors.

Some bench test data with 1704 1900KV
1. 8x5 bowtie 2S
2. 8x5 bowtie 3S
3. 6x4.5 2S
4. 6x4.5 3S
5. 6x4.5 cut to 5" 2S
6. 6x4.5 cut to 5" 3S

Thanks mate. I have a heap of pics to organise. Probably do a blog post build log to not clutter here. Just exporting the LOS maiden vid testing the different props. I'll try do the FPV vid but it was a bit shaky and not that interesting being my first time I was happy to stay in the air!

I think it would be best to round the leading edge of the cut props. If not for efficiency then safety I tried them straight off the cutter and they worked fine

Why do I always forget my toys when I'm in cool places to fly

I was in a huge warehouse about a month ago where they make animatronic dinosaurs and they had a full scale brontisaurus (sp?) model.... Would have been so awesome to fly around

No kidding that would have been pretty cool.

Question to those who are up and flying, what is your hover % of throttle?

On 2s I'm hovering at about 60-65% and on 3s its about 35-40%. Anyone else similar? While I've got the Mobious cam mounted, there really isn't any other extra weight on it. This is with 5030 props.

I don't have tmotors but I'm about the same as you just a hair lower (about 25% throttle) ... But I'm on 5x3x3. I would think the extra blade makes a tad bit difference....

Any of you with T-motors that use 3S?

I'm flying the T-motors and in the crash video I was flying 3s with 5030 props.

According to ecalc I'm WAY over the limit on those motors. And while I neglected to check how hot they were when I landed. That said the flights were only 3-4 minutes each before I'd crash and it would have a chance to cool down some anyway.

I know I'm pushing the limits of what this motor should be expected to handle but I don't know what that's going to cost me....

If I lose 10% of the motor life, I'm ok with that. If its 50%, not so much. If I'm playing with a time bomb and its likely to burn out at any time, then I'll stop now!

I just don't know.....

Some test data:

AUW without FPV equipment or lipo = 220g
with 950mAh 3S = 287g
with FPV equipment = 331g

Hover time (no FPV equipment ie 287g) = 9 minutes (drained to 3.7-3.75V/cell resting voltage on a well used pack)
670mAh to recharge pack.

JST connector cool
Motors cool (ZMR 2400kV)
ESCs cool (Simonk 10A, placed under prop wash)
Running 5030 props

Some 1300mAh 3S lipos on the way... FPV soon too.

:)
It'd be interesting to see the heat and current draw on the T-Motors with 3S Oso? I'm using 1804 2400KV on 3S and the different props hover about the same 40-45%, about 1 click under half throttle. Need to try 2S yet and 5030's on 3S.

Here's some LOS testing vids of the Blackout with different props and lipos...

i'm on t-motors and 2s... i'm about the same as you Oso. A tad above 50%. I use throttle curve though... helps with the punch outs as i have small thumbs
