I actually posted the Rocket June 17 but doesn`t matter. I ordered mine at a Toronto R/C shop and hope to have it next week.

When you see the instrucution manual online you know it is close.

There is one of these at my LHS and its apparently a really good price looking at what Tower is selling it for. If I got this I would want to try a 4 stroke engine. Any recommendations? Do they make Pitts style mufflers for fs engines?

This seems to be a bit of a Unicorn still. Can't find a single flight video yet Maybe I'll be the first to upload when I finish my build in about 3 weeks, probably.

[EDIT] I take it back, found a video

This is a pretty nice model! I finished mine a couple of weeks ago, and used the recommended e-power components (OS e-motor, 60A ESC, Evo 3300 6S, APC 14x10). I'm getting almost 800 watts and performance is very lively, I can get an easy 8 minutes of mixed throttle per flight. Setup as recommended, aerobatics are easy as are takeoffs and landings. There aren't any nose over tendicies with the gear installed as recommended and I fly from a thick grass runway. On a sunny day the colors really pop and I get a lot of positive comments every time I bring the model out. Overall, very happy with his one!

That's the video that sparked my interest.

I would look for a cheaper alternative motor though. I would like to do a 4s setup also. I have a few 4s 3000mah , 4000mah and 5300mah packs that I rather use (depending on w&b and room). I know that amp draw would be highera vs the 6s setup. I'm willing to sacrifice runtime for cost.

Maybe something like a HK G46 670kv, 60-80 esc range with a 12x10 or 13x8.

I am using an EFlite P32, 3300 4S Lipo, 13x8 prop, 60 amp ESC in my Rocket. Tons of power.

You can check it out in my build log in this forum that I started over 3 months ago at

OS Electric Motor-F1 Roket EVO

The OS Motor does not fit the electric motor box firewall!!!!! It would take extensive mods to make it work!! As the instruction book shows, Rimfire motor works and weighs less and
and fits! Rivanna

I just completed my maiden last weekend with an O.S. 46FX engine turning a 11x7 APC sport prop and this plane was very fast!

Everyone at the field was surprised at the speed, because as I was assembling the plane everyone kept telling me that I needed to use the O.S. 55AX if I wanted to see any performance.

Luckily I did not listen and I just used the 46FX that I already had in my tool box.

I will create a video this Saturday and post it up here in-case anyone is interested in seeing the results.

The Evo is a great flying plane, but the color scheme is a bit difficult to see when it gets far out from you. A predominantly yellow and white plane tends to blend in with the sky.

There are only two things about this plane that I wish to point out from my experience.

1 - For me, the landing gear was attached to a very weak plank of plywood that was not glued in very well. On my third flight I had a bumpy take-off when a gust of wind forced the plane to veer off to the edge of the paved runway where it is a little rougher with some minor dirt and grass.... and the landing gear plywood plank broke right out of the plane, taking the landing gear with it. It was a fairly easy fix by using some more wood bracing, generous amounts of epoxy, and re-covering the area with white Monokote.

2 - This plane lands fairly hot, so you need to be prepared to slow it down well before trying to land. It is definitely not as hot as my pylon racing plane, but I did need to cut the throttle completely long before making the turn for final approach and it still took up most of the runway. There are two things that are going against you during the landing process. The plane is built to fly fast and has a beautiful thin wing with very little resistance. The landing gear wheels are on a very clean smooth axle which allows them to spin with ease. Once on the ground the plane keeps rolling and rolling...

Congrats, would love to see video. I've got a .70 four stroke in mine and it's plenty fast enough. Haven't had any problems with my landing gear plywood, but I did have problems with the original bolts that hold the gear on stripping in the blind nuts. I got some replacements that work fine though.

After one year of use mine resulting in a total loss a couple days ago due to a dead stick. I am surprised there not more information on this plane as I really enjoyed flying it. My setup included a Rossi 45 with a tuned muffler and this plane was quick. Sometimes building it light helps. I have to clean up my engine but if it is OK i will probably buy another one.
