Nice bit of flying there Bob, lovey place to fly off water, pond/lake is just a nice size and the surroundings are really nice, maybe we can go there for a fly when I came over

I got to thinking after seeing your Vixen fly Bob and thought it was looking a bit dated .. so I have decided to do a bit of a face lift and will now be able to take a 8" prop and lower kv motor for quieter running

Hope you like it ..

I wanted a sea plane to fit in my suitcase, .. small .. light .. one that I know (or felt) would fly ... and able to be put together really quick at the other end .. not too worried about bringing it back ( I will leave it with my friend) so it can be glued together when I get there but almost ready built ..

Here is my mini suitcase Vixen 620 (620mm being the wing span) just minimum glue holding it together to test fly, I will break it apart into 3 sections

Took me less than a day to cut it out and put it together .. used mainly CA glue and hot glue to hold the 3 sections together so I can pull them apart reasonably easily

Floater-Jet Replacement Motor AXN 2208 2150k
5 x 5 Prop
Plush 18A ESC
3 x 9g servos
Weight (without battery) 270 grams
Weight with 1000/3s batter 370 grams

I'm thinking that it might not be fully up-loaded yet

Else,

Youtube has some settings specific to your upload that need to be changed

Tony has sent tentative files for both a 750 and 850 span version of his Traveling Vixen.

I have them prepped and ready for a test cutting.

More as the plot thickens ;^}

I'm ready to cut those 1st prototype parts!

It's pretty boring in Adelaide , you might forget to come back home !
But don't miss the boat as it's a long hard drive across the Nullarbor Plain !
I spyed that "Longest Straight Road" from the air on the way back from Perth !

I thought that I80 across Utah was bad, but, WHEEW , thats a stretch of road !

It sure is a Looooooooonnnnng straight road Bob

I think the 850mm wing span should be a really smart flier with maybe a 1000 - 1350 kv motor and a 8/9" prop .. should fly really slow .. and fast too

Once cut out should only take one and half to two days to build, this type of model is a very quick build and I have simplified the position of the 3 servos for ailerons, elevator and rudder .. I expect it to come in at about 700-800 grams including battery

I am thinking

Turnigy Aerodrive SK3 - 3530-1340kv motor or similar
8 or 9 x 4.5 prop
Plush 40A ESC
3 x 9 gram servos
5 mm CF tubes in wing, horizontal stab and 3 or 4 mm CF in booms

Oh yes .. and I think new thread and new name .. this one named by Bob .. "Viking"

Lockey

EDIT .. Here you go Bob .. new thread started ... https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...0#post42790285

This is the second flight of the mini Vixen 620 ..

I just added a bit of trim tape to make it easier orientation, flies quite nice, just have to remember to keep the speed up a bit on the turns and landing

Yes Bob, I like the name "Viking" for the big one

I like that everyone there seems to view the Goal as a Target !

OH OK you moved out there to be part of the target.

Is there a Height limitation at this Field ?

Looks like everyone has terrific Ground range ;^}
