Hi LIC, I agree with you but why? Here is my story - My Spitfire (Kyosho) suddenly planted itself from 25 ft on the final approach. It was like Mike Tysons upper cut .... no time to think or do anything. The model was a write off but on postmortum found two magnets have come loose !!! Since then, never taken anything for granted for a brushless motor. Cheers |

Thx guys.....looks like a bad bearing. Hard to see, but lots of black grimey dust/crud around the bearing. Magnets seem well secured.
From my old post, I think these are the bearings to get. rcbearings.com 685ZZ 5 X 11 X 5 Bearing MDC-685-ZZ MR105ZZ 5 X 10 X 4 Bearing MDC-MR105-ZZ Now if I can remember how to get the old ones out.....!!?? |

Yep, a little bit on the rear bearing as well. I just ordered some from rcbearings. The front one came out fairly easy.....gonna work on the rear one now...

I'd keep the old bearing for re-fitting the new ones. See the link

I had a real problem in trying to replace the rear bearing some 18 or so months ago. Mr Google came to my rescue and removing bearings gone into history now. Since LLC mentioned about bearings, I thought I share it with you. Cheers |

Looking like I get to be the new owner of the Gunfighter this weekend. Of course it will have to get a little repaint and then start on some weathering.

IMO heating or freezing the bearings so they come out easier or install easier is a better method

Thx guys, the front bearing just popped right out, the rear one took a little coaxing, but a little tapping with a rod thru the front got it out ok.
I didn't have a bolt long enough as in Blue Falcons vid above, but found a similar shaft to help line up the back bearings on each other and push it in. The front just dropped in...not a very tight tolerance! Test run-up AOK! Hope to fly it soon. |
