Balsa ARF Parkflyer Shoot-Out! (11-20 oz AUW)

I'm sure folks have been wondering why all the questions about what parkflyers are available out there. Here is the reason why. I have come up with a great idea about having a parkflyer "shoot-out" or fly-off to see what planes we like the most. I am thinking the categories will be broken down like this:

1. Build quality

2. Flying quality

3. Quickest time from box to air

4. Overall value for the money

5. Best Evaluator/Review Thread (this will be determined by a group vote once all reviews are done) Winner of this category will receive a free one year subscription to the RCG's Plus Program. That is a $60 value! Thanks Jim and RCG for donating the prize!! More about the Plus Program here: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/rcgplus.php

Are there any other categories or should that be tailored differently. I am open to suggestions on them.

Why that size range? Simply because it is an easy target to start with. As you know, I broke down these parkflyers into three weight classes and I have to start somewhere. This is a decent sized group. The sub 10 oz planes are very few so that would not be much fun and the 21 - 32 oz planes are many. Too many to start with so this is the best size range for now.

The deadline for airplane additions will end on 1 July.

Airplane reviews will begin by 1 August and be completed NLT 1 Sep. I'm thinking a balsa ARF should be able to be assembled in a month's time no matter how busy a person may be.

This should be a lot of fun and hopefully we can find someone who has just recently purchased these planes, or would like to.

Frank

Haha. Yea obsession. I guess we all have that when it comes to something we love. But this is only the tip of it. Here is something that has been going on for over five years now. I'm not sure how you can analyze this. https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=837250

I guess if it wasn't so much fun for all involved and hearing and seeing the enthusiasm of all our pilots I would have probably given up long ago.

Of course. Sadly, the choices in this size/AUW is pretty limited. If you find something else that is not in the list in post #3 let me know.

Thanks,

it's sort of almost ready to fly... sort of.

and its true it is no longer in production, as it was stolen by an overseas company...however, I have two of them, and I would like to honor Todd's Models, by putting one together and evaluating it.

with your permission of course

Hi Frank,

How about "Overall value for the money" as a fifth category?
