Very nice!

I flew many of my early solo hours in the club's Ka-8. It's a shame I got too tall to fly it

I like the airbrakes, nice scale touch. Good to see they didn't go along the 'scale' DG1000 route and fit flaps...

Would have preferred it to be balsa too!
What next? A 2m ASK-21 or maybe an ASK-13

oooooo. this looks interesting! i love flying the full sized k8. and the 21. in fact i have a 21 (4m) so a 2 meter k8 would be great. specially as im building a tug too.

though its a shame the airbrakes are only top side and not both.

So, I wonder what it's made of? The Corporate web page doesn't say (as far as I can see)?

Chris

Edit: I've now looked at the video above, seems to be all "Parkzone Foam".

Just thinking: I reckon it's hugely significant that Parkzone have brought out a "pure" glider. These guys clearly aim at the mass market, and they seem to think that there is a mass market for such a model. This can only mean there has been a huge increase in interest in gliders and gliding within the RC community (thanks no doubt to models like the EasyGlider, Radian, eastern knock-offs, even the Mystique, etc.), which totals up to great news for all of us (more buying power = more variety of products, cheaper prices, etc.) !

yup "z foam"

perfect for keeping weight down and survivability up.
i just think the price for the material is a little steep.
nice plane never the less.

however, seen as hh are now expanding very well into sailplanes, im holding back for a scale ask21, duo discus or asw27 with the same build as their blanik. then ill be giving them my pocket money.

Just pre ordered one! Looks like a great plane for that day you don't have a tow pilot, can be put up with a hi-start (winch maybe?? ) Not really into foam but looks pretty nice! Parkzone planes usually fly pretty well for the most part so we shall see I guess.

Hey all,

Little more info on the KA-8. It flies very light and thermals great. While not a speed machine, it is great thermal and light slope airplane. Its 3 ounces lighter than a T-28 with a lot more wing area. The spoilers are very effective and allow for pretty steep landing approaches without building too much speed.

Also we announced the new E-Flite Hi-Start to work with the KA-8.

Just like the real thing then
The full size K8 goes up on a sparrow's fart, if you'll excuse the expression!

Come on though HH. Why not true top/bottom airbrakes?
Same scale 1m ish Piper Pawnee and you could have a very scale combo

Also, would that hi-start rip the UMX 21 apart?

Tony,

With the spoilers on top and bottom, they would be too effective. Even with just top spoilers you can come down quick.

This Hi-Start would not work with the UMX ASK-21, not sure if the ring would even fit over the hook on the ASK. This Hi-Start would destroy a UMX ASK-21.

Hope that helps.

Silent pilot, Hanger Nine has the perfect Pawnee, very nice airframe, around $300. I think as an ARF. Check it out!!
