Transmitter Programs and Programming for DLGs
Hello everyone,
The thread "Initial programming of a DLG" is starting to accumulate posts about programming specific radios. That is the very thing I wanted to keep out of that thread. Apparently people didn't notice that or ignored it. Anyway it is clear that we need an equivalent thread with programs and programming techniques for various transmitters. I'm putting this thread out as a candidate to fill that need. So if anyone has a program that can be downloaded and posted here, please do so! Identify the transmitter and tell us what features you've programmed in. It might also help to link to programs for transferring programs. If anyone wants to provide directions on how to program desired DLG features into a transmitter then here is a good place to pass on that info. If anyone has links to good tutorials for programming various transmitters then link away! It is pretty clear that often manufacturer's manuals leave something to be desired... Let this thread be about the techniques - the HOW TO - not about why or why not of specific features. If we deviate into the latter then this thread will spin out of control and die like so many others. I'm certain there will be lots of interest, if we can keep it on track. Have at it! Gerald |

I'm reserving this post for links to previous threads with this sort of subject. Send me a PM with a link to a thread and I'll include it here.

I have a long relationship with the 9303/9503 radios so if anyone has questions on programming them for a DLG I can help. My set up uses 4 modes (Launch, Cruise Thermal and Speed) and the left slider as a camber adjustment in cruise and thermal modes. I recommend the Heli transmitter as it has a spring loaded lever (switch) on the back left which is perfect for the launch switch for RH throwers.

Everybody who has a Futaba 8FG should immediately download this document:
http://www2.ripmax.net/Futaba_Inform...tary_notes.pdf It is so superior to Futaba's included manual there is no comparison. Explains all the functions and most importantly what they are supposed to do and how they interrelate. I think Futaba is doing themselves a tremendous disservice by including such a poor manual with such an excellent transmitter. Fortunately this gentleman is taking up their slack. I also found jfinch's functionality overview and sample program very helpful when getting to know the 8FG: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...0#post20504900 -JB |

Thanks Tom! Just got an used XG8 for curiosity's sake so I'll take a look at that. While I wait on a receiver for it I wonder if your program could answer whether I need to manually set one of the aileron outputs to go to the throttle channel on an RG411BL somehow as that seems the most likely hookup.
Edit: Link to Tom's XG8 DLG program https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=24335737 |

8FG momentary switch
For the record, how to get a momentary switch setup on the left hand side (SF). This is needed to set the launch condition (forward). I struggled with this for a while before stumbling across the rubber band idea.

FWIW, I wrote up a DLG programming guide for the Futaba 12FG. It was mostly for me to remember what the heck I did, but I've gotten some positive feedback on it from other folks, too. Should also be somewhat useful for 8FG and 14SG users, too.
Here is a link to the thread (document is attached to first post): https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1607363 |

For those seeking "drop in programs", I would highly encourage you to figure it out for yourself instead - using hints/guides/descriptions available here. That way, if you need to change something, add a feature, or remove something that gets in your way, you will have the knowlege to get 'er done.
IMHO, of course ![]() |
