Nano QX Quad-Copter RTF & BNF with SAFE™ Technology by BLADE (2 min 21 sec)

Blade Nano QX RTF and BNF - Unboxing and Review Video (3 min 50 sec)

Blade Nano QX RC Heli - Demo Video (2 min 3 sec)

Not sure about this new designed frame - looks a bit odd! Hopefully there will be some other frames available..

Weighs a little more than my nano h-frame Hubsan x4 - https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1893153

I like the frame design.
If I get a call while flying, I can choose between land it or park it on the ceiling

I want it, now.

Maybe my Facebook feed is screwy, but I thought it was funny that I learn about this in the SAFE posting Horizon did. Buried the lead if you ask me.

LOL. yeah I guess this frame design does have benefits & helps protect those tiny motors & props. Would be nice if there was an option to remove the prop protectors if you didn't want them.. I guess they could be snipped off! I wonder if this is 6 axis with gyro & accelerometer? Can't seem to find this in the specs, but perhaps it does which is what they call the new SAFE feature..

I very much like it. In some ways it is what the Hubsan X4 could have been. On the other hand, the latest version of the X4 has incorporated some of the durability mods. So it would be a tough choice.

16.5 gms, around half the weight of the hubsan, but a similar size with 8 mins on a 150 mah.

And you can fly it with a decent radio

Interesting

I wonder how it would fly with the frame flipped and the props flipped. Basically just have the legs and props facing down. It could look a bit cooler while retaining the safety factor.

Definitely has accelerometers. " If you get in trouble, just let go of the sticks. The SAFE technology system will bring the Nano QX back to a hover all by itself."

One possibility: following what has been done with the mQx board: mount the nQx board (DSM2, aerobatic capabilities, currently marked at ~US$36 at the HH web site
http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...ano-qx-BLH7601 ) on a frame and motors from another quad (usually less expensive than Blade/Eflite parts) to form a hybrid.

LATER: I looked at the nQx manual
http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...nology-BLH7600

and it mentions that the nQx uses 6mm motors.
The Walkera LadyBird and most other direct-drive RTF micro-quads use 7mm motors.
This seems to follow the Blade/Parkzone tradition of using 6mm or 8mm motors, but not 7mm motors.

Also, switching between stability and agility modes during flight needs a channel 6 to accomplish?

Outdoor and Wind testing

Wonder how Quad can fly outdoor with wind? I got small quad (WLtoys V202) and it handles wind great and its small, but doesn't support my dx6i. If this one can fly outdoors with wind. I'm buying.

There is a picture of the board at
http://www.horizonhobby.com/products...ano-qx-BLH7601

One could compare the board size in that picture to the size of certain parts that are liable to be fixed and known:
* the antenna length (1/4 wavelength?)
* battery socket (like for Parkzone um planes)
* MOSFET motor drivers
