It's easier but you can pay with a CC either way and they are very well organized at the event so it's not a major pain. I am fairly sure they would prefer you do it online, before the event just to make life easier but I'm also fairly sure they expect it and will deal with it as efficiently as always...

I plan to camp fri night. we usually bring our 4-wheeler to get around. so much quicker than walking or waiting on bus

I THINK it was around 250 for the first year, last year seemed about the same but I have no official numbers. I can tell you it's a great event, run amazingly well (as you should expect from the TT staff) and worth attending no matter if 1 or 1,000 are in attendance!
