Going to a machinist friends shop today to try my hand at making some motor shafts ,so I can use the 4mm bearinged motors I have on hand.

I'm going to use my Ntm 1700 kv motor and one for the replacement Warp motor, both with 4mm shafts, one out of 440 ss,and one from steel, see how it goes!

The manual says 2700/2800 for hovering and 3600/3800 for 3d with 325 blades ,but I'm going with 350 blades and 6s so will run it slower( sane speeds), probably 3200 for 3d.

I wouldn't bother with stainless. I think the shafts need to be ground and hardened. Does your friend's shop have that capability?

I would suggest getting Randy to contact Scorpion ASAP to get special shafts made up.

Motor shafts

The one in the motor is 440 ss hardened, the other shaft is made from hardened steel, both cut with special cutters and a lot of passes.Shafts are extra long ,will cut to fit once I have the pinion fitted.

I'm easily confused...why is your pinion at Troy's?

Someone told me about this:

Think it will work?

I sent the pinion to Troy so he could make me the shaft( for fitment),but I have another spare pinion also coming from Rc Japan.I also have a stock motor coming that I will remove the shaft for making exact copy's.Just have to see if it works.I think any shafts that start at 4mm could be adapted with a lathe.
Do you know what size the mini Protos motor shaft reduces to,if its 3mm we might have a winner!

I was told by kpod (pretty sure that's his username) that he thinks it should work.

I left him that question a few minutes ago asking about the mini motor shaft
Got an answer back from him, sounds like it should work!

It was such an easy build (3 hrs) and no issues, that first batch excuse doesn't apply to this model! 200 g lighter than my Warp and so easy to work on,Jr sure does know how to design a heli!My wiring is almost all hidden( just the esc wire) and is much cleaner than the factory pictures with the full size Tag gyro. Thanks Randy!

posted a note on the JR USA facebook page about a lack of info.....nothing back. Still waiting for some word on where to buy this baby in the US but nothing yet.
Looking forward to some of your flight reports.
Is the TAGs worth it ? It doesnt add much to the bundle price but is the money better spent on something else?

I'm using a Robird gyro, the mini Tags comes in July I think and is for Jr rx.Just did a couple of test flights,at 45 percent throttle I'm getting 2700 hs and it is very quick,in testing in the garage I almost hit the ceiling a couple times! The cyclic feels similar to the Warp( that big feeling we hear about) but I'm running 350 blades and a 1700kv motor.Almost no vibs( my blades weren't balance) but it still barely registers on the Robird(250/350max).Hope to get some video up later today.
