3oz Wattage Lightning

I ordered a fuselage/wing/gear set of the new Wattage Lightning since it claims an all up weight of "under 3oz".

The stock setup looks odd but the empty fuselage might make an interesting micro-flight project.

Here are the specs:

Wingspan: 19 inches
Length: 16 inches
Wing Area: 60 square inches
Stabilizer Area: 17 square inches
Flying weight: Under 3 ounces

I'll post back when I receive it. It looks like the wing set is back-ordered until January.

The red wing is.

However, we also have a silver set and a yellow set. They are both in stock.

Item No. 144064 is silver
Item No. 144065 is yellow

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the response. I don't see the yellow wing set on the Web site.

From the link to the entire yellow Wattage Lightning plane, you press the Replacement Parts & Accessories button and only the Red back-ordered wing set shows up.

...

I now see it once that I type in your magic number, 144065, in the search engine, the yellow wing set shows up on a new list.

I called and changed my order to yellow.

Thanks again.

Lightning

I have one. They fly great!!!! I'm converting one to micro R/C. Robert at Electric Jet Factory is stocking parts. Mine weights in at 3 oz ready to fly. The transmitter is the battery charger. It takes only 2 mins to charge up the 5 cell 110ma NiMh pack. I like the fact it has landing gear. Enjoy!

Sorry, DNA, but I know how you feel. The new designs just keep on coming!

The exciting part is that this is the first time i've ever seen an ARF with RTF weight of 3oz!

It looks like they added the new parts that Mike mentioned to the Replacement Parts list today.

That 3 oz. figure is a little hard to believe, with 2 electric
motors and 5x110 cells plus landing gear?

Yeah, I figured it was worth a $20 "look-see" investment for the fuselage, wing set, and gear set.

I'll keep you posted.

Just to make sure there was no mistake, I just went and weighed mine on our mailing scale. It weighs 2.9 ounces.

Remember, there are no servos or linkage.

They are not the same exact motor.

They are about the same size and they sound about the same when they run together. That kind of angry mob of mosquito sound.

This thing looks like it would be really neat for indoors.

What micro gear are you getting from ELectric jet Factory for this airplane?

What parts do I need from Hobby Lobby for the airplane? Wing set, fuselage, motors, propellers and battery?

I went ahead and ordered the whole deal. Now I gotta figure out what I need to convert it to R/C. I checked Electric Jet Factoryand I didn't find the parts bruff was talking about.
