Question

Can't arm the motors of my quadcopter

Hi guys!

I'm building a quadcopter for the very first time..
I don't think I need to write down all the used parts.. but I'm using the CRIUS MultiWii Lite with a Turnig TGY 9X remote with a Turnigy RF9X v2 receiver.

I followed NickP his instructions, I changed the config part of the multiwii2_1.ino like he did, uploaded it to the Crius board, connected the receiver and servo's, ..
When I'm looking in multiwiiconf2_1 I'm connected, I see the movements of my remote controll in the application,
BUT when I connect the lipo battery the blue light doesn't glow up. It actually never does anymore since I've callibrated accelerometer..
1: is this normal?

Now i'm trying to arm the motors, but I just cannot get some movement in it.. =(

I connected the servo's on the correct positions on the board..
I'm using channel 1-4, channel 1 throttle, 2 aileron, 3 elevator 4 rudder.
I changed the remote controll Subtrim menu:
AIL 002
ELE 003
THR 001
RUD 004
GEA 000
PIT 000
AUX 000
AUX 000
and the Trim menu:
AIL 002 <000>
ELE 003 <000>
THR 001 <000>
EUD 004 <000>

Everything seems to work on MultiwiiConf2_1 but I can't get movement in my motors..
Can anyone help me with suggestions or something?

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks

oh and by the way, only the red led and the orange led are glowing.. no blue led..also not blinking

In the GUI, do all channels vary from 1000 to 2000, center at 1500? Close as you can get is good enough.

If the throttle won't go low enough, ESC's won't arm.

Hi Nick,

how do I change those varies from 1000 to 2000 centered at 1500?
center is 1500 yes, but the max throttle is 1939, minimum is 1062 when I push my joysticks to the left top corner or right bottom corner..

To expand the range of a channel, you need to refer to your transmitters documentation for travel/volume adjustment. There is no universal standard for the terminology.

I strongly suspect that the ESC's will require a minimum value below 1062 to arm. My ESC's are already spinning the motors at 1050, and that is the common 'start' value in Multiwii. How low is needed is a function of your ESC's. Keep lowering it until the ESC's arm. If you can't do it any other way, lower the center value. You may loose some high end, but it's better than nothing.

MultiWii code has two defines, MINCHECK and MAXCHECK, which are set to 1100 and 1900. Values below 1100 and above 1900 are adequate for arm/disarm operation. The throttle channel must reach below 1100. The yaw channel must reach above 1900 to arm and below 1100 to disarm.

MultiWii also requires accelerometer calibration for arming. There's a button for that on the config screen.

thanks for the great information.. now I understand why I can't arm (and if I could, disarm my motors).
But how do I change those 1100 and 1900?
is it in the Arduino App, the MultiwiiConf app or is it a setting in my remote control?
I'm new to this, it's my first quadcopter and such a remote control, so I have no idea how to start this..
thx!

alright! I finally figured it out.. I've armed my motors.. for now there is only one spinning =(.. but I'm going to find out what the problem is ..!
thanks a lot.. After finding out how to change the values to 1000 and 2000 and the center at 1500 they armed! thanks for your time and replies!

Can someone help me with this please :P?

try swapping escs and motors that dont work with the good ones to rule out bad hardware. one item at a time and dont forget to label them.

Betaflight 3.2 has a flag for throttle high that prevents arming even by switch Im still digging through how the freaking channels got all screwed up since i coped this from a working model in my Tx but .....

if it thinks some horizontal stick direction is throttle and its at mid point well then it wont let you arm ...

I stumbled upon this enlightenment from some french dudes you tube post where in the CLI for betaflight

he put in status and saw the current flags now Ive got to see why my stick mapping if screwed
