SB-1 Flawless

I opened the hull and re-attached the wayward collar. One of the main weights was also loose in the hull.

Had no idea how or where to place these weights for correct balance, so just set them as per the manual diagram.

Charged the Tx no prob.

The banana connectors on the supplied 12v charger are too big so not sure about that.

I checked the battery with my multi meter and it was showing 12.42v

So I went ahead and plugged in the 10 amp fuse, switched on the Tx and fired up the main switch on the sub.

All control surfaces are spot on, motor runs correctly and ballast working ok as per manual.

Put her in the bath tonight and she floats exactly as described. Exactly level, with just the upper deck and dome above the waterline.

Mate, this thing is gonna be fun !

Nice one.

Where did you christen her? Pool, lake ?

Hoping to take mine out to a local lake tomorrow, Weather permitting.

I took her to a local stream as I knew it was deep enough to run. I was also able to convince a friend of mind to come with me because we could go fishing afterwards.

I was a bit paranoid and had a string tied to here the whole time. I am happy to report not a drop of water.

I'm considering swapping channels and putting the rudder on the left stick as I fly helis and it seems more natural there.

Hi Jersey C,

Yes, I tried mine in the bath. Not a drop of water in her.

Might be a different story in my local lake. Will use a tether too just in case.

I have ordered a TT 6 Blade Prop and some extra fuses.

(The reset type fuses so I will never need buy more).

Would like to fit the TT Camera kit down the track.

Not sure where best place to buy that from. Any idea ?

I have flown helis too. Know what you mean.

I need to look into a new blade as well, I wonder if it would be worth making this guy brushless in the future.

One word of advise when running it for the first time, momentum. Takes a little while to stop this guy.

Regarding the camera, I'm wondering if a go pro isn't the way to go. Looks to be what others have done.

I'm very much a newbie like you so maybe someone else can chime in.

The TT 6 Blade Prop is recommended as an upgrade by TT themselves I believe ?

Although I'm sceptical. Maybe the tradeoff will be a hotter motor ? Brushless sounds like a mod to consider too!

Got my 6 blade prop from Omni Models on Ebay for $17.00 so worth having to try it out.

Yeh, looking at a GoPro HD too. Maybe better than lugging a cable all over the place?

Awesome Sub though eh ? Much bigger & HEAVIER than I imagined when I ordered it.

A re-spray in maybe white with perhaps navy blue trim would look way cool too ?

Or maybe paint her matt black and attach a very large foam dorsal fin to the top and have some fun at the local swimming lake !

Just kidding !

Hi Jersey Crewmax,

Is that the original Thunder Tiger charger your using in that pic ?

I can't use mine as the banana plugs are too big for the female charge plugs on the sub. Not sure how they managed that

The charger for the Tx died after one session so I am using an old Hitec charger for that.

I'm going to use my Imax BC Dual charger for charging the battery in the sub.

Will also try and post some pics & video when I can.

Yes it is the original charger but I started charging it with my Hyperion 730 and its a much better charger.

Sux about the tx charger, will thunder tiger warranty it?

It's ok, I have an old Hitec Tx charger that works.

For the sub's battery I will use my Imax. Should do a better job (like your Hyperion).

Someone mentioned this sub was getting shortened run times as the supplied charger just wasn't topping the lead battery up to max capacity ? I think that should be around 13.4Volts ?

The supplied charger wasn't getting anywhere near that apparantly. I maybe wrong.

How well does she perform bthway ? Are you getting a good run from the stock battery ?

Still waiting on my 6 blade prop and a chance to run her in the lake. Been limited to my bath tub due work commitments.

Hopefully over the weekend.

best place for SB-1 Video kit I've found is here;

Same place I bought my 6 blade replacement prop.

Not affiliated with them in any way. Just thought I'd share. Good price and everything in stock.

Still not a lot of change out of $500 bucks so I am still considering a GoPro.

Need some flood lights too. Mikes Subworks would seem the best place for those.
