Overview

Horizon Hobby is proud to add the 1/4-scale L-13 Blanik 4.2m to its family of E-flite® sailplanes. This 1/4-scale replica of this internationally recognized sailplane comes with plenty of scale details including a hinged canopy and an authentic Red Bull trim scheme. In addition, the foam wings not only provide strength, but also provide a more accurate representation of the full-scale airfoil. The fiberglass construction provides strength and rigidity to the fuselage, while features such as flaps and a spacious cockpit area for radio equipment make this plane easy to operate and maintain, and optional electric spoilers can be added. This great flying plane is ideal for sailplane and aerotow pilots as well as slope soarers.

But but but... A nice scale model (and pretty expensive too) and your'e going to stick kit all over it? Surely a sport glider is so much more suitable?

The specs mentions that this 4.2metre ship tips at 10kg! It be a lead sled at this weight.

I have flown the full scale airplane and its a very fun plane, it was designed for competition aerobatics...but hey its not for 3D weenies

I understand that it is not a 3D weenie. But 10kg for a 4m scale glider seems way off the mark. I have a Rosenthal 4m scale Pilatus B-4 and it weighs less than 5kg, just for comparison.

Maybe not a floater but it looks like it flies slow enough to be an effective soarer. At 10kg it will be blast on the slope... I have one ordered, I think it looks just different enough to be fun.... Hopin to have it for the Aerow Tow..LJ And Oh Yea , I understand the idiot is my buddy Pete Goldsmith...he also designed the Mystique...could be the start of a trend!!!

Eflite is pushing into the glider market on a couple of fronts. A slope plane(other than the mini ask21,already bought one) or dlg would be nice too see also. It's good to see a large manufacturer paying some attention to our needs.
Keep em comming Eflite/Horizon Good Job PGoldsmith
