No Phantom Problems

75+ flights with Phantom and no problems whatsoever.
Has anyone seen any data concerning how many Phantoms have been sold?
Like Ed and HGT, I'm here to help any way that I can...

I dont think that this is a real problem. You have 10 respondents that responded in the positive out of how many users? I am not saying that it did not happen, the question is if it is an issue for most users.

I understand what you are saying Ed, but when they things fly away, and it ain't user error, then it's damage or injury or both.

And it's the loss of a pretty expensive investment

That is a real problem.

I agree with you. But without real credible evidence of what happened, then we are dealing with hearsay.

I've never heard of any Phantom problems, when a camera or FPV gear wasn't attached. I don't know if this is always the case, just an observation.

I think daskim's problem appears to be what would happen if the Phantom lost signal and was confused about where home was. I would have definitely sent this to HGT to check out.

The guy who runs the LHS just set up an account with a DJI distributor and ordered a few. He says DJI has sold "more than a few thousand" Phantoms. It's considered quite a sales hit. The frequency of problem incidents seems quite low, if this is true.

The question is did you have a GoPro attached and were you using WiFi?

The problem with unrecovered flyways is that the evidence flew away.

If the poll numbers hold true, 20% fly away.

They moved on? I'm just kidding.

On a serious note, a DJI rep told me that his reports indicate a failure rate at far less than 1%.

If you attribute most of that to user error, then the leaves probably one of every 800 or so sold that is defective.

That's just an educated guess, but it still concerns many of us, because the impact is pretty serious.

This is an interesting topic. I would like to see the poll results. A) Do I vote to see them or B) Can someone else keep a running total?

I do not own a phantom

David,

That leaves 99% that do not have a failure. That is pretty good loss ratio unless it is your copter. I feel badly for those that lost the Phantom. I still want to hear from those that lost their Phantoms.
