I bought a cheap $10 clothes iron that works great for smoothing out hot glue seams and filets. Often the hot glue cools before I can wipe it smooth with a foam scrap on long seams. I found the iron will smooth out seams and remove excess glue from filets. A heat setting between silk and wool seems about right. Have a towel handy to wipe the face of the iron clean between passes over the glue. It works great for fixing all kinds of hot glue joints I didn't get quite right the first time.

Maiden flight of the light weight DLG. Launches easy and floats really good in calm conditions. I ordered some tungsten weights for ballast, It should help in more turbulent conditions.

I was getting some good consistent launches but not hooking any thermals. Then I noticed some buzzards come by and looked like they were teasing me. Finally caught a nice thermal and stayed up 5 min.

Boa2110:

May I assume that your foam spar is tapered? Also what is the measured chord at center and ends of the wing?

Thanks. Dave-

Yes, foam spar is tapered. Root cord is 6.5” and tip is 2.75”.

Short maiden tonight. Wind was up so I couldn't really check it out. I did notice the wing did produce some nice lift.

The airfoil looks great on that one. Your info really helps me.

Best to you;

I found out it is better not to sand much off the LE fold so it is not as sharp. Still have to sand a lot off to get a nice trailing edge.

...had to redo the tail as i decided to go with wire instead of string for the elev. control ....and a damaged fin due to hangar rash. Yet, I was too keen to test the new airfoil, light-er wing loading and reduced drag.....despite the fact that the ailerons were not neutral, it just floated...curiosity satisfied
....with pushrods etc it stands at 3.68oz/sft...another gram or two for taping the belly.
:
...may just go with a 2mm coro fin with a cf tube so that I get more launches,,,,and fewer repairs...

I don't check but someone ran my specs on my 2m UMX motor glider and said about 2.5oz/sq ft

Always nice to launch right into lift! Great flight. You have really got the DTF DLG down.
