This one is made with Ross foam board. AUW 215g aileron and elevator only. Maiden flight was really nice. Wind was calm and the plane just floated. Unfortunately my ballasted nose cone flew off and I could not find it.

Replaced nose cone and ballast. Did some more trim flights. Will need to set the elevator linkage with some CA so it wont slip anymore.

Hi Boa

Very nice.

Could you provide a bit more information on the building process please?

Wings are cut with hot wire right? airfoil? what reinforcements do you have in the wing?
is the whole wing covered with packing tape?

I cut the foam board wing then sand the inside to get the airfoil shape. Wing top and bottom are taped together at the leading edge with a 1/8" wood dowl to protect the leading edge. No spar used but I do add a piece of foam spacer near the root to make a thicker air foil shape(12 mm instead of 8mm when folded). Electronics are placed in wing before folding and hot glueing.

Yes it is inside the fold The top fold also gets some score cuts (inside) to help give it the airfoil curve.

In the picture above the wing on the left is the outside. The right shows how the inside looks with the score lines cut.

This wing has a thinner profile. Horizontal stabilizer under boom.

It has an airfoil top and flat bottom.

The compressibility of foam is a weak point when using foam board. I have found an easy way to strengthen the foam. Add hot glue to the score lines. Let glue in the split and wipe off while still hot. This fills the crack with glue and helps prevent the foam from compressing.

170 gr. AUW is crazy light! It appears to have ailerons also? Is the nose all balancing weight and the rest is in the wing?
Can it take much of a discus launch?

Yes, everything in the wing. Very clean design. 3 servos(aileron/elevator). Nose cone for ballast.
