yet another battery charger question.


if i buy a 7.2v 1200mah pack(2 cell). would i need a charger that goes up to 1200. can i use one that charges lower than 1200. can i use one that goes above 1200?

when charging a 1200mAh lipo pack, make sure your max charging current is 1200mA. thus you can use a lipo charger that charges lower than 1200mA, and you can also use a lipo charger than can charger higher then 1200mA, provided the charging current can be set to 1200mA or lower.

Never charge at greater than 1C. You can certainly use a lower charge rate, it will simply take longer.

so, 1c is one amp. correct? and 1200mha is actually 1.2 amps? i think that is what the guide said in the beginning of this forum. ok i dont want to charge higher than 1c or 1000mah.

No, 1c= 1 times the capacity
1c for Etec 1200 is 1,2 amp
1c for kokam 340 is 0.34 amp
1c for Thunderpower 2100 is 2.1 amp

oh ok. so it varies depending on the battery mah you are charging. it is the rate of charge with the vaiable being the mah of the battery you are charging.

Be sure to read the Ultimate Guide to Lithium Polymer Batteries sticky at the top of the messages in this forum, as that will have the answers to most of your questions about Li-poly charging.
