Boscam Cobra HD FPV Camera (test result show by whakahere)
https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1870641

20130402Update

Arrangement and specifications:

CobraHD
BOSCAM HD39 _ A snack-shaped FPV purpose full HD video piloting camera
Features:
* FPV firmware adopted, just show a red dot when recording, very clear, good to word with OSD (pilot OSD);
* Record full HD video to the micro SD card with audio (audio can be off), and give a live VGA signal for Tx to send back to ground;
* Nice shielded parts for FPV purpose, limited RF noise and limited interruption for flying;
* With 20cm flat cable to connect the main unit and the camera unit;
* Very light and yet very powerful, just 40 grams;
* Video/Photo trigger from radio transmitter;
* Power from the planes batteries, use 5pin cables.

Thunderbolt
BOSCAM TS5833 _ A ultra-powerful 5.8GHz 2000mW Tx
* 7-24V input, 2S-6S
* with a channel display and switcher
* about 52 grams (turn out to be 37 grams, we even have 33grams one, but it is not the final one)
* 8 ch, 2000mW

Cloud Spirit
BOSCAM Circular Polarization Antenna _ Cloverleaf Antenna
* nice designed antenna
* easy to distinguish the Tx and Rx antenna

And now, the CobraHD is here. And I have to point it out, that, it is still not the perfect, need your advices to get it better.

Notice:
The red glue at the both sides of the flat cable
Flat cable connect camera unit and the main unit, can not be opposite. We will print the flat cables after your test in production.
The CobraHD was designed to packed with main unit and camera unit separated, and put the flat cable inside the gift box, but we can only connect and glued them together for testing.

For Thunderbolt and Cloud Spirit
We modify their cases.

20130417Update

About the Start/Stop control (Boscam RC Transmitter Control / RCTC)

We here post the way to connect the CobraHD with FUTABA Radio Rx, to have the Remote start/stop function, so you can control the CobraHD when your planes are flying hight up there.

First, Connect the everything with the multi-functional cable:

Power up

Then, choose a channel of Futaba Rx for CobraHD, I use ch 5 as example:

Set the ch 5 to SC 3 way switcher:

Up, take a photo

Middle, stop taking a photo/video

Down, take a video

We will post a video of how to do this soon.

Cloud Spirit Antennas (CSA)

Why Cloud Spirit Antennas?
1. CSA is a special tuned 5.8GHz antenna fit all frequencies, with great result on stable video receiving and expand your video cover range.
2. Nice design covers to protect the inner parts from damage and keep it work always in same good way.
3. Colour and leg length distinguish the Rx and Tx Antennas, orange for Tx, and blue for Rx.
4. RF friendly materials is adapted for the covers.
5. With tooling to make sure all antennas with same shape and angles for the inner parts, unlike those hand-made.
6. Experienced engineer ensure every antenna tuned to a great level.
7. Almost double the range of 10mW 5.8GHz VidTxRx compare to original antennas
8. Last but not the less important, this is a base antennas for us, we will bring even much better ANTENNAS from it.

Thunderbolt 2000
(Thunderbolt 1000 coming by the end of this month)

Thunderbolt 2000 (TS5833) is:
5.GHz with 2000mW,
33dB +-1dB,
37grams,
with nice heatsink and fan,
power on work,
with channel display and switcher,
size very small,
RP-SMA female connector,
with a 2.0dBi omni antenna.
A special multi function cable,
power by 2-6S battery, in fact, 7-28v even 7-30V wide voltage adapted.

Thunderbolt 1000 (TS5830) is:
5.GHz with 1000mW,
30dB +-1dB,
about 30grams with case.
with all fr (IFtron/Fat Shark band, Boscam A B E band)
And a special Boscam RC Transmitter Control / RCTC function

Now, we worry about that the Thunderbolt 2000 (TS5833) is even too power than we first think, with more than two channel showed 34dBi. It is truly a beast level Tx.

Test contents:
1. To check if there are any interference from CobraHD to RC, or other devices on the planes;
2. To check is the thunderbolt, the range it cover, and how powerful it is;
3. Two version of Cloud Spirit are coming, and we want to test the first one, the coming one is still under developing, and will come with hi-sensitiveness.

What you get and what you need to do:
Free items for testing;
Need your review on the tests.

You need to be experienced hobbyists in the RCG, and you should be just and give the honest advice for us.

Galantly bodging away
I don't believe I have the experience to test for you and give the answers you need so I will have to pass (I would love to help but feel others would be better suited to this task) One thing I can say Is I often test things to destruction (not intentionally but I often find myself repairing things for some reason or another) I would be a good reliability tester lol.

I do have one thing I would like to say after looking at your product (camera/recorder)

Please do not be tempted to glue the (FFC/FC) ribbon cable connecting the camera to the recorder!!!! (or at the camera board end!)
Use a sturdy, high quality connector on the boards instead, if possible.

FPV-ers are people who tinker with things, replacing the ribbon cable should be made easy in case of any accidents. If it is glued the cable may ruin the connector if it needs to be removed.
Replacement ribbon cable availability will be a necessity for continued use of this product IMHO.

I'm sure you will be aware as the manufacturers of this product that a good (class 6 or above) TF card is essential for HD recording

Can you share some details on the Thunderbolt?

I've been spending quite some time trying to fix range issues on my FPV Multicopters, mostly due to the RC radio system been severelly affected by my 900Mhz FPV gear.

So it would be interesting to check how that would behave.

Well I have been testing 5.8ghz gear for a few years now. (see the 5.8ghz 200mw distance record thread)

If you are looking for people experienced in testing 5.8ghz then this thread has many of the guys that have pushed the limits of the gear. Myself included of course. done the 10km 200mw test.
