TopGear Hexacopter

TopGear used a DJI S800 Hexa on part 2 of the river nile source hunt. It's good to see one being put to use like this!

Lots of clips where you can tell were captured by this to.

Lol! Wasn't too sure about their onboard video with the night vision effect and crosshairs etc.

I was worried they were going to make it look utterly amazing, then lots of noobs would go out and buy one thinking they can fly in 5 minutes then crash have a huge accident and get multirotors banned... Was just a thought

Haven't seen ep2 of the Africa trip yet, but some of the footage in ep1 had serious problems with jello. So it's not just us "amateurs" struggling with the S800..

They had a lot of jello in the part 2 footage. That's weird because it's never that bad in the videos I've seen on Youtube, it is in fact really quite good and only really noticeable in fast forward flight. Not sure what they've done wrong with theirs. Or maybe they had some bad luck with the props and got unbalanced ones.

probably unbalanced props. i have a feeling they heard about multirotors for AP, then bought a RTF one (s800), then bought spare props without knowing about the need to balance them lol

Maybe, but don't forget that's the #1 television show in the WORLD with a virtually unlimited budget! They probably brought in specialists to fly it (notice how many people were in line to use the toilet lol) but ran into extreme field conditions that didn't allow them to tune it perfectly. Also would be hard to retake a lot of the footage so they went with what they got. I'm still wondering how they managed to charge all their batteries in some of the remote areas.
