...even a simple stencil makes something more interesting on a fly-bye...
rattle-can it, or pull out the pachet/badger.

Yes, I understand... I am able to do excellent finish work.. for a buck!
my own stuff, i kinda tend to leave it at the point everything is functioning well.

yet I recall a time in my younger days when I spent quite a bit of time building a little motorcycle from bits and pieces... and it ran well. lots of fun. but I left it in primer...
A very attractive young lady looked at it and said, "What a lack of imagination."

Ugh! That hurt!
Down I went, in flames! lol

Ever since then I strive for at least a rudimentary finish, for presentation value. :-)

Your vids of the wings soaring at the cliffs along the shore are inspirational to many folks, myself included. Visibility is a key factor.
Something nice to view is a bonus, all around???

Hey Kent,
I like your plane!

It doesn't look like the flaps move very far do they? I'm not sure if they are hinged at the bottom, but that could help you get more throw and they will become effective for landing. On my swept flying wings, the flaps always helped stabilize the thing and slowed it down nicely. Sometimes they saved it from a crash when it did the flying sideways/tumble business that you can get if you fly a pure wing with the cg too far aft.

I wouldn't expect the 7037 to be good at all on a flying wing, but yours seems to be doing okay anyway. I don't even like the airfoil for a conventional plane Is the tip also 7037, or does it change to something else?

Yes, I would not choose this airfoil again.

The airfoil is high modified due to the flap settings. There is now reflex on this wing in the flap area. For landings, the flaps deflect about 70 degrees on this one and that causes a nose down attitude. Any more and the elevons would not be able to counter balance.

If you have questions on the design, see post #1

and it looks like 'back to square one' for me, also!

This internet forum stuff is awesome for an engineering education, and current revisions in process! Years back I bought pulp... now I must realize it is all stagnant information.

Is it heresy to amend the Horten airfoil, or to consider winglets?

...yes, I suppose I'm prepared for the dunking chair! :-)

No dunking chair.Just a bungee launch. If you fly.............

I added Rhino Hide facing to the elevons, which changed the CG. Nose weight was added to compensate, but not enough. I SHOULD TRUST THAT CG BALANCER !
Of course I want as rearward of a CG as possible to make the elevator response as good as possible, but this plane does not instill confidence, even when the CG is within a safe range, so the CG is going forward from these settings just find the forward limit again, evidenced by up deflected elevons.

Got video of another stall today.....enjoy.

Kent, very nice work on this model, and the flight videos are beautiful, California coast right?
