You'll have a very hard time getting that hull to 50mph, but to do it you're going to need a new motor, batteries and prop. You'll need a strong 3674 motor around 2000-2200kv, 4s5000mah packs (or two 2s5000mah in series) and play with props to see what works best.

Even with all that you might have trouble keeping the hull on the water at those speeds. Might be better all around to keep this one running well as is and then pick up something that's happier at those speeds.

OK cool... I've got her running in the 40's now and she is pretty stable. Thanks for the info. 2 4s paralled is too much weight. But I like the idea of seriesing 2 2s 5000. I ran her in some good chop today an she handles really well without turnfin. But awesome I wanna go fast with what I got. Thanks for the info

how did you get on with your cen aqua jet ? I am in the middle of upgrading mine and I have installed :

KB45-10XL 1200kv Brushless Inrunner 2880W

100A 6S ESC

2x 5000 3s Nanotech batteries running at 6s

first run it hit its own wake at full speed and flipped it rolled so fast one of the batteries flew out but luckily the connector kept it attached...unfortunately that had the effect of pulling the boat over and sinking it with just the bow bobbing up and down on the surface.

anyway... after that I decided to upgrade everything as there was a lot of play in the rudder and the prop shaft was bent slightly so it was vibrating. I have ordered a stainless steel 5mm shaft, stainless steel coupling, stainless steel rudder, set of turn fins and a pair of trim tabs. I will be putting servos on the trim tabs then mixing them with a V-tail mixer into a pair of gyros to stabilise it.

this is an old video of the time i had an old 1.2cc nitro car engine in it with its gyro stabilised trim tabs

if this is stable i am thinking about upgrading to a 12S esc with 4x 3s batteries. it should crack 50 or explode trying

Hahaha. I did the same. Haven't done much except I burnt the vxl motor and put a miss GEICO motor in her and have ran it once since then.

i got mine off of ebay for 35 with a graupner brushed speed 700 race motor installed. i ran it on 8.4v then 9.6v then 18.v and it was fast but the batteries only lasted a couple of minutes so I installed the GX-12 nitro engine from a wrecked rc car but that was underpowered at only 1.2cc. the motor I am using was for my friends boat but it and the batteries were too heavy so i gave him the nitro engine and he gave me the brushless motor now i just need it to run stable.
