4 down, many billion trees to go!
Yeah, the scrabble in NC was the worst for sure. Didn't realize how bad it actually was while all of the comments were being made as I attempted the low save, getting lower... As far as the most recent landout (only ~800 ft out according to google maps, not even cracking the top 5000 of my landout achievements), I had it made in the shade until I started back and the BHOG sink kicked in. That's boot heel of God for those that haven't heard the acronym from Lemon. I litterally struggled to get the horizontal tail to be above the wing so the plane would dive out of the sink. End result was landing in a smaller tree about 15 ft up, avoiding the swampy area filled with what looks like blackberry bushes and their billions of tiny thorns. But all is good. Ron, Raed, and I got some extra time together admiring the wildlife and my ability to decipher plane direction from my RSSI signal strength. |

You should really move back here to Colorado. Much fewer trees. Of course the curvature of the Earth may still prevent you from seeing your downed plane Bob |

Is there going to be any DLG events in Florida this year? Is the annual San Felesco happening in February? I am so bummed that I missed San Felesco last year and then all other events I attend each year got canceled so looking forward to the first post-COVID event I can attend.

Only thing so far is the San Felasco Exile contest in Feb that may double as the F3K team selects too. |

Hi all, I’m so glad I found this thread, as I have been wondering if there were any DLG flying in my area.
I’m now living in the Villages and just getting started in DLG after flying RC gliders for the past 30 years. Better late than never. I have some micro birds on order to get started with but hope to move up to 1m if my arm holds up. I’m 80 so there is some concern that I won’t be able to throw them. I would love to hear from any other flyers in my area that I could hang with or just pick their brain. Meanwhile I’m going to the contest next month, and hope to learn a lot from that experience. Enjoy, Gordon |
