Helping Others In Our Sport. Would You Like To Volunteer?

Would you care to help others learn to fly or help them with their building skills? Or maybe help them with their plane setup or simply make sure their plane is ready for their maiden flight?

I have found a solution which will make it easier for modelers to get help in their local area, and an easy method that allows providing and offering help to others in this hobby. I have coined the term for those willing to help others “Model Aviation (MA) Mentors.” The idea is quite simple and it uses an online map program that is available to everyone.

The online Google Maps titled “Model Aviation Mentors; Model Airplane Builder Volunteers & Flight Instructors” allows MA Mentors to identify themselves with a location and contact information such as an email address, phone number, or RC forum link so modelers or newcomers in their local area can contact them if they are looking for help. Anyone looking at the map will not know your exact location or address; but they will know your general location to see if you are near enough to provide assistance.

If you would like to volunteer to be a Model Aviation Mentor just let me know.

Thanks,

Frank

Any help is better than no help and I bet you know more than you think.

You are welcome to volunteer if you would like and if you run across something you do not know, you can always post it here or contact another volunteer. That way both of you would learn something.

Got it! Thanks you gentlemen for volunteering! I know it is hard for some folks to step away from their PC screen and help out others in the real world so I appreciate you making the effort.

Good idea! I think most people look for a local club first, but it's good to have other ways. I'm willing to do it. Only problem for me is I build old school planes and power them with glow engines. I even use dope. I can't help much with lipos, arming switches, etc.

Thanks for volunteering Jim! And no worries about that. There are many people who would like to learn those skills out there.

Thanks again,

Frank

Not sure how to let you know I could not send you a PM for some reason.

I would gladly be interested, I have a website, youtube channel, been doing all aspects of RC for 15+ years. I am litterly obsessed. LOL I fly everything from electric to nitro, and gas. I love it all!

Please pm me and I will give you what ever info you need.

Plus I will be the first person in Maine

Thanks
George

Awesome! Thanks George! Just click on that little envelope below my user name and that will allow you to send a PM to me.

Thanks for volunteering and being the first from ME!

All I'll need is your town name and what you want to use for contact info; email, phone or RCG blog.

Thanks,

Frank

We are doing great. 140 volunteers so far, but we are still needing some volunteers to help with nitro and gas powered planes. Anyone else care to volunteer?

Thanks,

Frank

Count me in. At first I didnt understand how it worked, now I do. Since I already do this anyway, makes contacting easier. I have a 15 year old former student coming over this afternoon to help him fix up his first warbird, P-40.
Sending PM.
Edwin
