Mini-HowTo

DIY: Make your Boscam Explorer HD19 go with CS MP lens

What you need:
1pcs Mega pixels CS mount lens
1pcs CS mount seat
1pcs of IR filter glass(or you can try to get it from the original lens bottem)
1pcs of Boscam Explorer HD19 HD FPV camera

First, disassemble Explorer HD19;

Second, cut the front face to fit the CS seat;

Then change the Explorer HD lens with the new CS seat and lens;

Assemble them together again, and yeah you will get it.

Reminds:
The CS lens must be a MP lens
Use the IR filter glass

Good CS lens is much better to let more light and make better video the small lens.
And there are many lenses for you to choose from, like 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, 12mm, 16mm and so on.
Don't like distort video of wide angle lens, try CS MP lens then.

Should have it shoot a video and post here soon.

Let's see how it work!!

the weight of HD19 somehow increase.

So nice! i just got mine, and i'm really interested in your modification! Could you post some vids? i tried to removed the lens by unscrewing the little screws on the side of the lens, but i wasn't able to pull it off (didn't want to damage it) did it come off was for you?

I do aerial video for big money Hollywood movies and I'd like to know if this would work with the DJI Phantom I use on the set.

Having in mind the hd19 optics are probably the cheapest possible (in other words, crap), it would be really interesting to see if a more refined optical lens will reduce noise and increase the brightness of the picture. Hence i'm not sure how this mod will go with a brighter lens, having in mind the hd19 doesnt have brightness/contrast options

i've disassembled mine last night. Pretty easy to do it. You have to unscrew the lense to remove it, and this is actually how you set up the focus. Do you guys know where i could find lenses that would adapt to this camera, in order to change the FOV?
