Colin Archer

HI evrybody. I'm kit bashing a Colin Archer, and I'm thinking of changing to a single mast with jib I guess called a marconi rig. Has anyone done this that might give me some pointers. the picture is the way I'm thinking of going,Thanks

You should do a google search on William Atkin- his design "Eric" is a single masted Colin Archer type- though not a "marconi" sloop (it is a gaff rigged cutter) it may give you some ideas to look at- other "Colin Archer" types to look at might be the Westsail 32 and various Perry designs like the "Baba"...

Yes, that will be a pretty boat. Gaff-rigged cutter would be the way to go.

If you aren't already familiar with Ivor Bittle's website, take look under his Thames barge link for some ideas & inspiration on how best to do your rig.

I think I will stick with the Gaff-Rig without the Spanker, just the main and jib's or fore sails. I'll post some Pic's tonight as where I am now.

Quick question, do you have a combing around the deck opening that the cabin top fits on to?

Good to hear! I figured you were going to add it but just wanted to check!

want to keep the inside dry in "big seas" and/or when the rail goes down!

I am trying to figure out how to manage the two front stay sails on the one servo. Can't seem to find any instructions on how to rig controls for sail boats. here is a drawing of what I'm talking about. Is there any site showing methode's of doing this.

Groet Wim.
