FJ1 Fury Collaboration

I'm starting a new build thread. I"ve asked Corsair Nut to collaborate on this model since I am really a neophyte when it comes to EDF's. Besides, who could pass up an opportunity to work with the "Nut". I'm hoping she turns out good. I;m going to be using the same technique as the Skynight I just finished.

I'm attaching some layouts and pics.

Peace, guys.

Duct interference problem

Just contour the top of the wing between the saddles to fit the duct. Have you done weight and balance on this? The fan may be set to far back for CG

On the PDF he has it as a 4" fan. To me, way to big a fan for that scale. Even at 1/9th its not that big, but big enough for a JF90!

Hi, turbonut.

It is a "Fiddlersgreen" model. It will have some refinement from the canopy forward. The model is not one of their bests and doesn't fit together very well, but I hope to fix that.

The duct-work would be great, AIR SALLY. I put a 4" fan in the plane (Mainly due to inexperience) and am hoping Nut or someone will suggest an appropriate size, if this is wrong.

Thanks,
Dennis

Great suggestion, p901P901. I think the fan unit can be moved forward and miss the wing. Also, it may wind up with a smaller fan than 4". Some feel this size is too big for this bird. I'm just too inexperienced to know better. After saying that, the thought struck me that turned lose I could be dangerous.

Peace, Guys.

Thanks for the input, CoolerByTheLake. I would be happy with a 90mm in there to pick up some room.

Thanks, AIR SALLY.

I will be making it in the standard format I use, like the Skynight build. I four color print onto a large bond paper format (13" X 44"). Once the fuse., wings, stabs, etc. are all printed. I laminate down to 1 mm extruded foam on the fuse parts and either 3 mm or 5 mm foam on the wings, stabs, etc. I cut out the foam and roll form it into the needed shapes for the fuse. Usually, for the wings and stabs I cut out the shape and roll form an airfoil into the part. I use 3M spray adhesive to glue the paper down. It makes for a very fast build, but you must be careful with the exterior since it is already in its finished state. I glass the insides of the fuse, sections of the wing, etc. where strength is needed. This will pretty much be the way this Fury will be built. I'm going to ship it to your boy (You must bust buttons over him. You did a great job raising him.) in sub-assemblies for the the EDF portion, your duct work, etc. I'm going to attach a couple of photos of my Kiwi A-4 showing a portion of how it works.

Thank you for all the encouragement you give to all of us.

This is truly a great bunch of guys.

Peace,
Dennis

yeah he does tend to make me proud .... i'll go and ck out when it gets there . this is a simple plane ,i bet we could just roll a pice of sheet fiberglass to make a duct.too bad they dont make flexable paper ,it would make your building easier.wonder if you could print on some kind of palstic
