Buy your girlfriend a plane, teach her to fly, spend time with her.

Just don't let your wife find out.

My wife understands that flying RC keeps me out of trouble. She is really good about all the money I dump into this hobby. Kimber exempted, being that this hobby is strictly male, that's an added bonus for her as well.

Come fly with us in Henryetta
My GF is also in the hobby. Building and learning to fly. And one of the guys I fly with is wife also is learning to fly.

We have several flying ladies. Our Grand daughter is very active
in RC flying. She is a flier, not a builder or fixer. A young man down
the block does her maintenance.

That's cool, none of the guys I fly with can get our wives interested enough to try it. Women are more timid in general, my wife just says, "oh no I don't want to do that, I might break it". If I had another TX a buddy box might get her to try it.

My 23 year old daughter asked me for a plane last week.
She hasn't flown in 9 years...

She lives 1000 miles away, but I'll build her something good.

The buddy box is the whole ball of wax.
You have to get one because sooner or later, you'll need it for something/someone else too.

As I have said before, tell her you'll take up some of the more popular hobbies...

1) getting drunk
2) living in a bar
3) chasing women

She'll figure it out soon enough... or else she's just not very bright!

I wouldn't stay with a woman who didn't encourage me to do what I love. We can all understand if we're spending money we shouldn't, your wife should be pissed in that case. But responsibly enjoying the hobby should be encouraged
