I think the ailerons stuck so when he took off the wing dropped automatically hit ground and went tumbling. Oh we'll good thing it was only $30 his money not mine. I told him I cannot afford both our addictions so he wants to work all the time now. I call that incentive lol

Too bad his plane was not properly ground checked before it was released for take off. $30 is a lot of money for a young boy to raise.

It can happen even if checked out well. I had it happen on 150 Twist that had flown several times that day, servo locked up on take off.

It can sure happen. I had a throttle servo seize up in flight at about 1/3 open on my float Cub. Landed on the water, but the kill switch wouldn't operate of course, so had a mad chase across the lake in my boat attempting to corall the swiftly taxiing airplane.

It also could of been lifting the plane off before it was ready and snapped on him. Those little AT6's are snap happy.
I think a crack yak would be a very good 3D trainer for him

I remember when I started flying tapered wing aircraft back in the 80's I killed a few of these planes by snapping them. a few on take off and some by just pulling to much elevator.
It stopped me for years from flying those type of airplanes and it wasn't until the 3D machines like extreme flight, 3DHS , goldwing and slipstream to name a few that I started flying planes like edges and MX's
