In regards to your question of fast forward flight without surface controls yes, with a mutation. What you would have to do is add a gimbal thrust vectoring component perhaps attached to the 2 rear fans. Maybe something like shown below. In vertical and transit flight, would not move.

How I accomplished this was use a FFF F-22 equipped with no control surfaces carrying dual 64 mm EDF's with 2 dimensional thrust vectoring nozzles.

Flight were very intense and very fast(reduced drag due to no up/down surfaces movements) and landings required a high alpha approach of about 1/4 to 1/3 throttle. Did do a couple of rolls but lack good form for a loop. Ended up doing E shaped loops, losing a lot of height.

Looking for the perfect heli
Excellent. I was wondering about something similar (was imaging a 2D-controlled flat plane under the fan). Is there a known source for this kind of thing?
