Death of a flying space
It really felt like Marcy's domain, since its sole purpose was for flying Marcy class aircraft. It was a buster to move all the gear required for flying, but once set up & debugged, it was her domain. Those aircraft enjoyed having enough room to fly around instead of being confined to a single point.
There were only 3 flying campaigns in there. Google requires an internet connection to compile any Android software, so any changes to that section required driving home. Then there were the wifi connection problems. But the rarity & the fact that it was during the holidays probably enhanced the nostalgia. The energy required for setting up required having something new to test, which was usually just 2 days out of 2 months. Being in the UAV business for 6 years showed all too well how hard it is to make enough money on something that flies to afford a flying space. The energy storage & position sensing technology doesn't exist to make a mass consumer product out of an indoor UAV. Your target market can at most be RC pilots or collectors. Eventually, the technology will catch up to the problem, but the 1st consumer products are going to be from the traditional high rollers with enough money & time to pull it off. |
