Finished sanding and smoothing internal ducting . At a standstill until the new ESC gets here. Working on paint scheme ideas and the redesigns for Ronin as I wait. Just glad parts for Sabre coming from different vendor than the Meteor parts.

Alright...so she won't be ALL together today. I did get a lot done though. Thrust tube done and painted inside and out. Inner Exhaust area painted.(just so you don't see the white foam) New Turnigy 45A TRUST ESC got its plastic peeled back and a BEC put in. Fit battery into canopy(may change ) and cut recess for ESC. Cut holes for Ail servos. Not a bad day at the bench.

Unit and thrust tube mounted. Sides attached. Recessed battery in canopy and put in velcro for ESC. Now there is nice airflow over the HUGE fins on ESC.

I had to move canopy forward 1-1/4" and put leads on ESC to get CG closer to correct. Unfortunately it looks like I have to put 117g of weight forward to get it right. That's = to a roll of elec tape and its container.

Got her all together!! Even got the CG ! Control horns and rods installed too. Just gotta clean up the wires(aka...rat's nest LOL) and do the final sculpting and sanding. Then glassing the bottom of wing and fuse. I'm gonna shoot for a next Monday maiden. OH....and I may be painting before maiden as well.

The Sabre is glassed ,sanded and coated w/ WPU. Should be primed by end of day...and maybe some color as well. Still hoping to maiden tomorrow.

Primed with a dash of color for orientation. Will finish scheme after maiden. Weight now at 1.8 lbs or 28.8 oz. I was shootin' for under 2.

Was at field at 8am....and on way home at 8:30. NOT ENOUGH POWER !! First toss nosed in and broke nose . Kept trying , but to no avail. She wanted to go, but not enough OOOMPH to get her up. Canopy chunked, batt compartment crunched and wing bottom cracked. I believe that the inlet was too big and I should NOT have glassed plane.

Sorry to hear about your fatalilty. Can't say I know much about 50mm fans, but the intake did look "overly" large.

Yeah it was a bit big, but I thought that I was compensating for the interference of wires ,batt and stuff. I believe that it is repairable and size can be adjusted.

Have you ever considered using finishing resin instead of poly? As you don't really need it for strength, it can be thinned out. I don't remember ig it was Waltjg or sloperjoe, who had written last fall I think, that the poly isn't any lighter the resin. Epoxy not as fast drying, but much stronger. I tried the poly last year on my Sabre plug, wasn't real impressed with results.
