Supra electric

I like to build my own models. Supra seems like a good performer and there is a decent plan. I will start with the fuselage. I like the drooped nose and I want a one piece fuselage. I've shortened the nose compared to the Vladimir's models version and have arranged it to accommodate 30-40mm spinners/motors. I am using a pool cue to form the rear fuselage.

Got some fillets on the pylon and undercoat on. Am using Duratec EZ sand undercoat and a polyester filling and sanding glaze for the surfacing.

Got more filler on and another undercoat. A very light application of colour to indicate low spots for filling. I need to add filler to the bottom of the fuselage under the pylon.

Had to put in some 2mm dia carbon splints to stop the join cracking. No danger of it coming apart as there is a 1/2" dowel joining them.

One last fill/undercoat cycle to go. I will use a panel line scribe to mark out the hatch before molding, just need to decide how big My intention is to make the mold capable of bladder molding so I might yet put on a nose cone.

Decided on the nose cone. Turned it from a piece of maple.

Thanks guys. Now to work out how to do the hatch recess and mold. I will post a question on the composites list.

Making a canopy mold. I am using Zyvax number 4 release agent. Am making my own epoxy gel coat by weighing the resin then adding 30% West system 404 high density filler and 7% graphite powder. This will be a good test for it.
