I've had many missions of well over an hour. My only fear is letting the Li-po discharge too far to recharge it.

Yeah, an air bubble in that yaw thruster allows it to cavitate. Wow, it sounds awesome when I put it like that.

I hadn't thought about discharge with the LiPo. Having too much fun. thanks for reminding me.!

Where exactly do the yaw thrusters exit ? With my eyesight I need a magnifying glass to find it.

The steering thruster is hiding inside this 3mm x 1mm hole. Don't feel bad; I couldn't see it or the prop until I looked at the pictures. ...even with my 16X magnifier!

The receiver in the sub will automatically surface when the lipo reaches its cutoff voltage and then shuts down, it was designed for kids after all so no worries about the battery going flat.

Thanks for that Rick. Gawd, it is tiny.

Thanks Derk,

Anyone got any idea if the battery can be replaced without too much hassle ?

There is an earlier post of one being disassembled. Too much hassle is relative....your mileage may vary!

Thanks,

I saw that post. The pictures make it look a risky exercise. (with my eyesight).

I should have said without too much chance of breaking something

Looks like the battery sits in the front section that comes off as a seperate piece without the need to disasemble the whole sub ?

I hate lipo batteries mainly cause of the dangers involved and have to buy a special charger. I hope they come up with a much better battery than this.

Every battery needs a special charger. It's only inconvenient if it's not one of the chargers you already have.

Lipo's and water don't mix. That I know.

I'd bet the seal would be damaged if it was disassembled ?

Lipos and air don't mix either (don't ever try to disassemble one).

I just don't like the idea of fires and damage if you do this or you do that, too complicated and to sensitive. My feelings

fires can result from nearly any battery if improperly handled or mistreated. ever seen what a nimh does when they go up? its like a shotgun firing outside of a gun
sure, lipos and water dont mix, neither do nimh, or life. taking proper care of any battery will make it last longer and work better. and with this teeny tiny 20mah cell, the chance of an actual fire is non existent as it cannot produce enough heat to ignite itself.

as for replacing it, it wouldn't be too hard, just be sure to solder the little pcb on the old battery back onto the new one, otherwise you will kill the new cell. i have done numerous toy and electronic cell replacements, and thats the main thing to watch for, next to proper cell capacity.

Just discovered she doesn't handle lint or hair very well.

The tiny prop gets fouled very easily.

The sub stopped all forward & back movement. The prop seems to have much hair and assorted lint wrapped around it.

I need to get some tiny tweezers & a magnifying glass to try and remove it.
