Real Flight Interlink Question

So I recently bought RF 6.5 and noticed that the interlink came with a trainer cable Futaba Square. Can the interlink be used as a buddy box? I have a 6ex, but was unable to get the interlink to function as a buddy box on it. So if the trainer cable isn't meant to make the interlink a buddy box then what is it for?

The cable is to allow you to use your real TX with RF, if you prefer to do that. Then you can use your TX and the Interlink together for split screen flying, called Multimode.

No it can't. The Interlink can only be the master controller, it lacks the electronics to transmit data out the trainer port. As jeff said, it's just for using your own TX as a buddybox in RF because some people prefer to use their own TX instead of the Interlink.
