We're pretty lucky these days. For the most part we have but two types to worry about--Futaba and so called universal. With about a minute of effort there is only one type.
Life is much simpler today.
BTW that type S29 servo is about 25 years old. I still have some S28's that are still very serviceable.

Yep, plug life is MUCH simpler these days.

Just wit the brands of radios I have used since 1970, I have dealt with Kraft/Heathkit multicon connectors, MRC F710 5 wire connectors, no less than four different type of EK Logictrol connectors (5 wire, old style 3 wire, newer style 3 wire and Deans), two different types of Futaba connectors (G and J) and the old style Cox/Sanwa connectors.

Todays universal and Futaba connector situation is so simple by comparison.

Just got out of a train - 9 out of 10 people were using iPhones. Long way from gone. The one BIG mistake Apple is making is pricing itself out of the market. It needs to have a "cheaper" iPhone, iPad to capture the "everyday" man (and Woman).

The only thing that has happened is the others are catching up.

Personally I would not use a Mac. Also I would not use a Samsung.

Just like I wouldn't use a mode 2 Tx. It is amazing what your brain, fingers can get used to.

What really ticks me off is metric/ standard screws. Almost everyone in this hobby uses metric hardware, but there are a few holdouts, like dubro. I bought on of their spinners the other day, and the screws in it had standard sized hex holes, not metric... Who even has standard sized hex drivers?

I have a lot of metric ones, but I've never seen any standard sized ones. Funny... That's the only time I've needed one too.

Maybe it's time for the US to "standardise" and go metric? Then you won't need two sets of hex drivers

Wouldn't solve the problem. There would be still millions of non-metric applications left. It would take generations to phase them out.

Now THERE'S an idea. Why didn't we think of that?

Keep buying foreign products and you will continue not needing standard sizes.

Now that's a really good question...

Anyway, it still won't "fix" the bothersome key on the J Plugs, or let you use a DSM receiver with your FrSky TX module, or plug a male Deans into a female XT60 connector etc. etc.

If that's your toughest complaint, consider yourself lucky. I'm out out work, out of unemployment, out of money. I got this months rent paid for, but that's it.

Ever plugged a servo into an extension lead the wrong way round ?

Can't do that with Futaba stuff

So why the hell do I use JR and Spektrum
You know a JR plug is keyed as well right? They are bevelled on only one side. Its just that no-one bothers to make the male end (on the RX) keyed to match like they are supposed to, they just use pin headers instead.
