1) Be patient. If it's too windy, don't fly.

2) Check all control surfaces and motor before going to the field, and then again when you get there.

3) Make sure batteries are fully charged.

4) Easy on the sticks.

5) Remember to reduce throttle once you're in the air. (Don't ask me why I stress that one. )

take some packing tape and 5 min epoxy with you, and dont forget a extra prop.
99% chance your ging to crash on your first flight so be ready to fix broken parts.

try a few short hops or hand tose to get the feel of it.
when you know your in trobble cut power and try to hit a soft spot like tall grass.

Hi Ash,
5 min. epoxy is strong, quick setting glue. Sort of a joke 'cause you will more than likely crash and need a quick repair

The more batteries you have the longer you can fly ! One will suffice.

Good luck !

Launch from the ground or throw?

I am waiting for a sunny calm day for the maiden flight of my Slow Stick. My reasonably experienced friend is hinting that making my first launch from the ground instead of throwing is a balzy move. Any thoughts?

I would say an ROG (Rise off Ground) would be safer, although I've done both, and if you don't have a decent flat ground to take off from, a hand-launch is quite simple. On the stock setup (with Etec 2-cell 1200s) it pretty much flew right out of my hand.

My first flight with my SS was a ROG. It took me a few touch-n-goes before I felt that I could handle a hand launch.

(I'm new at this)
Is it easier to do a slow roll or should I have someone hold the plane while I power up, then release?

just let it roll and lift slowly when you get some speed. Let it fly strait for a short distance to get some speed in the air before doing anything. The SS will lift off in a very short distance.

A slow roll is fine. Make sure you give yourself enough room to take off. What power system/battery are you using?
