Help!

Want to learn to fly "bigger" helis.

Hi. I want to learn to fly some of the bigger Blade micro helis. I have flown and mastered the mcx2, mqx, msr, msrx, and 120sr. I also was pretty good with the mcpx but never did any 3d with it. I got a 450 awhile back but flew it for a total of 32 seconds throughout 3 flights and 3 rebuilds. I was thinking about getting something like a Blade CP or a Blade SR but I am open to suggestions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Wait. You can fly the mcpx but not the 450 Or do you mean you flew (and crashed) the 450 before you got into micros? A 450 shoudl be no problem if you're already decent with a microCP

You should have no problem with a 450 after flying everything else you listed. An MQx is much faster responding than a 450, an MCPx is faster responding and more difficult to fly than a 450. It's just nerves.

Yeah I flew micros then the 450. And it may have been the brand that I got too.

That's another possibility. Setup on kits and RTF clones is very touchy and you really need a programmable Tx. A well setup 450 with the right programming is quite docile compared to an MCPx. But, it's hard to get past the "pucker factor" knowing a crash means big repairs.

Yeah. I was looking to get one around a 250 size. I just don't have room for a 450. Anyone know of any good easy flying ones around that size? FP or CP are both fine. My radio is a DX8 so I can do a lot of programming.

If you get a 250, get a FBL one... they are a little more stable than the flybar'd version. That's what I plan on doing eventually. I know people that really love their 250.. but it's definitely more squirrelly than say a 450 (what I'm used to).

Yes +1 on this. if your dead set on a 250 be sure and go fbl..One needs all the help they can get with this squirrelly little model. ( repairing one is a due to its small size ) As far as recommendation for you and a 450 is all the space you have for time being, I would go with the Blade 450X. Perfect match for your spektrum DX8.. stay away from the blade Sr, A major goof H.H put out. A motor on the tail of the Sr was silly.

Ahhhhhh man...Hate to be ther bearer of bad news..But if you check on threads in helifreak or run ryder on whats ppl's most regretted helis to own..The blade cp pro always seems to be on that list. Correct me if I'm wrong. Does H.H even sell that Helli anymore ??

- IMO- You realy cant go wrong with the 450X..It gets high marks. Most of their micros do very well also. The 130x seems to be a mix bag and a money pit for some. rumor has it they may be coming out with a v2 in the next 6-8 months. ( worth waiting for before you think about the 130x v1 )

They are more difficult to fly than a 450 and not a lot of fun unless you have experience. Even, then most people avoid them. They are pretty simple design, so repairs aren't awful. But, they are not very durable.

Oh. I can't afford a 450x right now. Is the 130x pretty stable?

I don't think you will find it a huge difference from the MCPx, but in general the bigger they are, the more stable they are. I have several friends who have them and they love them.
