This last kite is the best one so far.. rolls, loops, slow flight, hovers, it does it all well

From Israel Amos Etam has been making various lightweight models along the lines of the Kolibri, but much smaller...
I would suggest a read through the build instruction for the Kolibri will clarify a lot of what's going on here..
A good idea seen in pic 4 is the bumper bar
the amos bipe (1 min 22 sec)

Whist I don't have a detailed build log he was kind enough to send me some in build pictures which should give you enough ideas on the process

My microkite finally got filmed
Flown outside, because the indoor sessions are difficult for my headcam..
this shows the power of the 1811 motor..
slow flight can be nice and steady, and the first part of the video is all on 1/3 power.. sometimes less...but its also a little rocket at full power and more than fast enough at 1/2-3/4 power..

the basic framework will fly on the umx sukoi radio gear setup, but its a lot less agile
cf-aerobat (5 min 5 sec)

On the kite..
I had a slight problem on my elevon horns.. my choice had been to bind them as a 'vertical pegs' only to the hinge tube ... Usually they would be bound to the elevon bracing rod as and be L shaped..
The horns binding on one side came unstuck from the tube, and the elevon could go up and down with the horn staying upright.. a drop of CA fixed it back.. but it could have been flown if I hadn't noticed it with likely poor results..
I have no idea why this side had been lashed separately from the elevons bracing rod, the other side had a figure 8 lashing which went round both the horn and the rod, and that side cant then get loose..
A couple of loops of the thread will now be added to fix the lashings together on the faulty side

yet another indoor session.. and this kite is one of my two favourite models.. a 24" Imp being the other..
This kite can be flown slow and gentle yet it is fully aerobatic, hover ,rolls , loops , inverted all good
The Imp is more of a hooligans model.. I have great fun bouncing it off all the roof beams , the walls and the floor.. it also will do the lot..

amos has been building are his pictures...and his text..
Today I finished (?) my latest KISS project - somewhat larger mini vapor clone for my 14 years old grandchild.
I tried to save wt and made it from thinner carbon and usual kitchen cling film,
which is lighter than extra strong film I used before. With the rigging thread the rib less wing assumed a curved camber. Still waiting for a carbon prop and lighter battery to bring down the wt to 11 grams - the smaller Mini Vapor is 9 grams - still a long way to go.

Their lightness is giving them the ability to fly very slowly....and thats not just high alpha flight ..thats flying properly...they also can fly fast because of their low drag, thin wings...
Whilst the film covering can get cut up in a mid air collision, the frame has taken that sort of punishment ok... and thats only using 2mm spars and and 1.5mm frame rods... the other guys prop frame was fine....
The menace later went on to shred a mini vapor model....the CF there is just too small...

My flying buddy wanted a very easy flying model, suited to use the parts taken from the parkzone micro SU...

My easiest indoor flier is without doubt the Vapor, so the design was taken as the basis for my new model, but it is scaled up to use the more powerful motor from the Sukoi...

The basic Vapor flying at 18gms has 98sq" of horizontal area....
The Sukoi fies at 35gms..with 52sq" area
Other models are flying at 40+- gms, using SU guts, with no trouble..
So that sort of 40 gms AUW... is my target .. and to keep the wing loading low for a nice slow flier I needed to double its area or there abouts..

my first job was a sketchup design..
1.....a rough size job is easily done tracing over the image of the Vapor..
2....the model is resized... and given extra rods for a bit more strength at its larger size
Hi davereap.
What glue u use for attached plastic bags,or christmas gift paper to the wing,to whisper plane!?
