That is only 304 miles one way from where I live.

As I stated earlier, I am moving back home to the Chicago area mid March and will be driving along I90. You only live 101 miles from Sun Prairie (I90).

Yeah, shipping to SC is $118. What pipe are HK smoking? I doubt it costs that much. You just can't order big stuff from HK, it's not cheap enough. And I don't see any benefit to the USA warehouse other than time, cause they rip us on shipping. $220 should buy a perfect plane, not a dinged up one.

I agree Shahram72...It's $118 to ship to Buffalo, New York.

Wonder what shipping costs would be like not shipped through HK? As in trying to sweet talk bad pilot into sending them. Probably still pretty grotesque cost-wise but worth mentioning when the prospect of ferrying a batch halfway across country.

I should see if I know anyone going to Cali any time soon and have them bring one back as checked luggage

I went to the USPS website and ran the weight 15.1lbs at 51"x17"x14" to Chicago from WA is $97.79 OMG!!!! That is a crazy price. I wonder if UPS or FedEx will be lower for ground?

MK,
I believe ground but did not really look around, it was the only option available. Yes the Decathlon is a big plane wingspan of nearly six feet (5' 9")!!!

I tried the Fedex estimator from Chicago 60601 to Washington 98101

From: Chicago, 60601, United States | To: Seattle, 98101, United States on February 4, 2013.

Package Details: 1 package, 15.10 lbs, Your Packaging, 51 in x 17 in x 14 in, 100.00 USD.

Due to the size of the package, Dimensional Weight (ie size) is used to calculate shipping prices (as opposed to weight).

Fedex Ground is $66.22

66.22 is still kind of pricey. HK probably gets a hefty discount from Fedex. So when they are charging us ~$100.00 they are likely just boosting their profit.

$60 is reasonable. $100 is not.

most exalted one
The shipping for a lot of stuff I bought was $3-12 in the US from the US Warehouse, so in that case for soldering stations, batteries, etc. they are not making a fortune off shipping.
On my last order I would add a couple of items and shipping went up a dollar, then add a few more, another dollar, not bad.

From China, different story.

Look around. There really are very few "honest" businesses nowadays. If honesty is buying from China for $2 and selling for $12 + shipping, then I guess ........

4*60, I am not understanding honest business? They are a "for profit" business if we do not like the prices we (or at least I) can shop somewhere else. Not a personal attack just stating fact.

I would not pay $100 to ship a $100 plane, it just does not make sense.

-----Break-----

Bombay,

$66 is more of a reasonable price but I do not believe HK uses FedEx they might use UPS and for sure use USPS. We need a newer lower-cost shipping choice, something that uses rail for the super slow deliveries at a rock bottom price. Something like, the Decathlon sized box from Seattle to NY for $22 in 18-24 days.

New business opportunity.

John
