5s or 6s for 65" Osiris

Hi All,
I have a 65" Osiris that I have flown with a 5S setup that draws about 85-90A in my current configuration. The issue I have is that it puffed several 5S 5000 Nano tech's and I am wondering if this plane might be a bit better behaved if I convert to 6s - I have tried reducing prop on this plane to reduce current draw, but was not pleased with performance on 75-80Amp props

Is anyone there flying with a 6S? - I would actually prefer to keep it 5S, as I have a 10S 2 meter ship that is quite easy on the 5S packs

If you fly 6S on this plane, could you let me know your setup?
If you are flying 5S, what prop and curernt draw are you seeing? - perhaps I just got a bad batch of Nano's. I might add that another flyer at my field also puffed his 5S 5000 nano's as well on the same setup

Thanks!

Joe

Flown several hundred flights on a 5S setup with this plane without having a battery issue. Hacker A50 12S, Castle 100Lite ESC, 16X10 Carbon Fiber prop. Batteries used were Gens Ace 30C 5300's, and THunderpower 25C 5000's. Maybe you are running the batteries too hard or long in time. Never go below 80% of capacity and use throttle management. Average flight time just short of 7 minutes. I also used packing tape on the bottom of the canopy to keep the airflow closer to the batteries.

I fly my Wind s 50, which is similiar in size on a Hacker A50-16s with a 6s4400 pack and only pull about 60-62 amps. I think that set up is a lot easier in the controller and batteries.

josy11,

I'm flying my Osiris on 6s. It has all the vertical that you would need. I fly both the advanced and Masters Sequence with it without any problems. The only thing I would do different, is go to the 6s 5000mAh battery.

My Set-up
Hyperion HP-4035-10 405Kv
Phoenix Ice 100 ESC
6s 22.2v 20c 4000mAh G-Force Lipo
APC 16 x 10e Prop
77Amp load. Input watts 1,600

HI All
Thanks for the reply.
AS to the question on how I treat my Lipos, I never fly them more than 75% of capacity, so I don't think that was the cause. I am beggining to think the Hobby King Nano techs are poor quality and will switch out to soemthing else - I am still leaning towards 6S for this setup -

I apprecaite all the responses

Started flying my 62" Osiris late last summer. Hacker A50-12s, 100A Castle, 16x10 APC. Was new to electric so bought 3 types of 5s 5000 batteries to learn about different brands. All 12 batterys got the same care and treatment. The two Turnigy Nano-techs died (puffed and lost capacity) with only 23 and 25 cycles each. The Zippys and Sky Lipos are still going strong. Over 320 flights on the plane now. I will never buy nano-techs again, of any size.

I`m using the exact same set-up...I have not had any problems so far with the nano techs, but I maybe have less flights...They are just getting warm after about 7 minutes..I`m keeping an eye on the nano techs as I`m not sold on them either.

All of the nanotechs I've used get hot easier then others. I would try different packs.

Also, the goal of the 5S setup was so that you could use the same packs if you eventually moved to a 2M 10s plane.

(of if you already have a 2M 10S plane, and you wanted a smaller practice plane...you could use the same packs)

I flew mine on 5S with no problems.
