I just got back from my lhs to buy some hardware. I asked about pricing on this new boat and it is not in the system yet. He said usually a week after an announcement of a new product is made, the pricing will come on line to the hobby shops.

I will have to talk with Jay at Greenfield News & Hobby about ordering one in so the club can see it. Also would like to get a look at the new Great Lakes Freighter by Dumas. Jay is really good about keeping some kits and RTR's around. We must have given out 50 of his business cards at the big boat show. I think the RTR boats would sell well to full sized boat owners with cottages. At least we got allot of feed back in that direction. Late in the day sitting on the dock with a cold #25 running a model. Most Wisconsin lakes have time limits (no after 3-5pm or so) on skiing and pwc running. Late afternoon the fishermen are out in force. perfect time for a casual run.

I was just looking at the link Kmot put up. Does Callie Graphics do reflective decals? The hull looks a bit plain. How about a Fire graphic in a reflective stripe? Maybe add the department name too.

for changes in fireboats, look at the differences in the New York City boats FIREFIGHTER and the new boat 343. Talk about different worlds.

I'm with Pat on the goofy (toy) look, its goofy along the same lines as the Atlantic tug. It wont take long for an enterprising modeller to do an update though to make it look like something very nice.

I'm happy to see a new offering, but it just looks goofy to me...
I tend to agree with PatMat, it looks kinda goofy---.

Throw something together that sort of passes as a fireboat, and put it on the market, like their Atlantic tug---.

Probably will be a good seller like the Atlantic. Helps to know your market when producing a product. I'm sure I can find fault with any offering even glass hulls i.e. skegs to narrow to fit stuffing box in. Bottom line there is no definition of a "REAL" fireboat in todays world. Google fireboat images and see what it's like today. Just don't dismiss it because you don't like offshore models or RTR. Tell NYFD that 343 looks "goofy" and/ or "toy".

Seattles fire boat was designed with speed and the ability to go from the waterfront , through the Ballard ocks, up to the big lakes in a hurry if needed. Looks goofy but that sucker will pump a whole heck of a lot of water. I have phoptos some where from the Tug races when they demo the boat and it can hide beind a cloud of water!!

As for price I'm guessing $400 to $450, their tug sells for near $300 but this fireboat has 4 channels, shoots water, LEDs and is pretty big. This isn't exactly a PB USCG but those listed over $500 and sold pretty good.
