Experienced Sailor -inexperienced RC sailor

Recently purchased an aquacraft Vela. lots of fun, but somewhat disappointed in the rigging. My boats and I reside in Cape Coral, FL. Any one around looking for local competition?

If you haven't yet read the Vela thread on this forum it would be very helpful in understanding your new boat's strengths and weaknesses. The Vela comes with a couple issues, one of which you have already discovered. There are fixes within the that thread and other helpful information. Here is a link to the first page of that thread : https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...327983&page=61
Enjoy your new boat!

Hey welcome to club vela!!

The rigging is definatly one of the most common problems. But all in all an easy fix.

Read the vela thread and please keep us posted.

If you want to drive a bit, there is a group of RC sailors that play in the pond in the park near the N end of Cooper street in Punta Gorda. Apparently Saturday is the most active day, but many are retirees (huge surprise) and they come when it's a nice day and they feel like it.

Look for your nearest club in the AMYA directory. Tom has a good idea as well. Enjoy the boat. I to own a Vela and if you want to make you Vela better, check out the Vela forum. Ryan
