trex 450 pro v2 collective pitch?


Hi could any one advise me on the collective pitch to set for this bird? it says in the instructions min 9 but i have been told that seems a little for a beginner? Many thx if anyone can help

+9* of pitch is fine for beginner. However, -9* of pitch could be problematic in a panic situation. In an up-right hover a "quick" pull down on the collective (pitch) will result in the heli getting "slam" down into the ground.

To be safe, reduce the negative pitch to about -5*.

How much of a beginner ?

Total Noob , Id say no negative pitch at all ... Forget about 3D settings and think Noob starting to fly settings ..

As long as hes learning to fly in calm conditions..I've been at hover power keeping her about eye level and then a gust came and I watched her keep climbing as I damn near chopped throttle to get her back down..I would say -3-4 deg would be safe to have at low stick.

Cheers guys think ill go for about 4/5 degrees but i dont no how to get rid of the negative pitch though? Or would 4/5 negative be ok for a noob?

In my T-Rex 500 manual they recommended +12 to -2 for "normal" flight, with +3 at mid-stick.

As mentioned in post #5, some negative is sometimes needed to bring it down when a gust starts to lift it. In fact, for that very reason I also changed my throttle curve from the normally-recommended "normal" curve, to keep the head speed high until I get down to about the bottom 1/4 of the stick position. That prevents the motor bogging down when I have to go negative to stop it lifting in a gust, and then positive again when the gust dies down and the model drops.

Thanks guys f all yr help . next question does anyone no why my tail servo will only work one way .no left turn ?

Can anyone please help me its been over 200 days since I gave up with my trex450 v2 pro and I still cant solve why my tail servo only works one way, no left turn.
ive still never flown this yet!!!!!!!:[

Do you mean the servo arm only moves one way? Have you detached the linkage and tried it?

Have you tried moving the rudder left and right and seeing if the tail servo moves both directions? If the tail servo moves both ways, you either have a problem with your gyro, your initial pitch setting on the tail, or your servo arm positioning.

Hi Siandhell, have you sorted this yet? If you have checked the tail moves freely and you have a good amount of pitch on the tail blades and the gyro is controlling in the right direction I would look at your head speed.

With a linear throttle curve as most beginners start with the head speed and consequently tail speed is relatively low at take off stick position. This means the tail authority is rather low. Right turns are with the main rotor blade rotation and left turns are against, so the left turn requires more power.

The solution is to increase the lower end of the throttle curve something like 0-50-75-80-80 should work.
