Sweep angle is 55, Root cord is 18.5", may change a touch, and tip cord is approx 7.25"
With wing tips it may be less, one of those deals, you have to see. Some explaination behind it. But all measurments close enough.

Panel length 26", and cores. Max thickness can be up to 2 1/4- 2 3/8 Getting pretty thick at that point.

Your diagram for fan and wing spars/mount together won't work, wing will be removable, one piece.

Also have looked at the NACA 1410, NACA1410 mod to 11% and the NACA 0011

55 degrees? It looks more like 36 degrees. Root should be 22.2' with tips at 8.86"

55+36=91 not quite 90 degress. Off a little I guess, but I have an excuse, I did this the weekend I had the stroke, that I didn't know I had! Depends which way you look at protractor,too. The 55 took off the template I made. For my top and side view templates, I used the drawing, made a PDF and enlarged it from there. Just made print out "half" the fuse, so when I drew it on paper, flipping print out, both sides were symetrical. I have found drawings to be less than accurate! My total length came to 61.5", tip of nose to tip of tail

For the wing I used this pic, from web site, enlarged it. WS on factory model is 49". Use what ever method you do to figure all other wing measuements off photo.

In measuring the drawing, I used mm to decimal, divided into either WS or length to get a multiplying factor. With known WS (49"), Length (59) as per there site, take the side viewdrawing, figure a multiplier to get a length of 59" (nose to tip of tail), see if it works the same to fgure out WS of 49" from drawing.

At this point it is,what it is. Not being a real plane, it realy dosen't matter, unlike my F-86F. Not much documentation to go on. A drawing and a few photos. It will be close.

Im impressed at the amount of planning going into this Cooler,

Cut it, and glue it! type of guy. I worry about all the other stuff as it throws itself at me.

I should probably should slow it down a bit.

I can see where the differences in our measurments came from. You have WS of 51.8" LESS the wing tips, I included them in mine. That will definatly affect what the root/tip cord would be. I like D_FAST's method, that looks about right.

I copied the wing tips, and enlarged them, to scale, and they were 3.75" at widest point. With your measure, that would make WS, 51.8"+7.5"=59.3" ( add on-- my wing tips are for a 52" wing, wing tips for 51.8" would need to be proportionatly larger, making WS over 60+"), way out of scale, unless I make the fuse much longer. If you look at the ratio of WS vs Length, it's about 5/6, 49/59, call it 50"/60", easier! At 59.3" WS, fuse would have to be 70+" At 52", WS is 5.77% bigger than the 49" WS. My fuse should be a slightly longer too, ( less than 1") but too much work to change it! It will be just fine as is.

I do need to address the aifoil selection. It should not have to be this difficult!!!
What ever happened to K.I.S.S.? I needed to make new templates ayway, to allow for shrinkage/wire burn when cutting cores. Throws off desired core size.

Unzip it and save it to a location. Then in Profili select Airfoils Management. In airfoils management import the .dat file from where you saved it.

I suppose that it would work a lot better if I didn't have the free version!!

p901P901 Back, before Christmas we had discussed the NACA1410@9.5%, here- https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show....php?t=1790336 You thought then it would be an acceptable airfoil. After finding out the "factory" airfoil thickness was 13%, to thick for me, what are your thoughts on the NACA1410@11%? It works for me.
Also thinking of the NACA 0011. Just want to get on with other aspects of this project. Time to simplify!

Why not just use the NACA1410? It is set at 10% max thickness at 30% of cord.

No particlar reason. Not knowing a great deal about different airfoils, and using the info from the AD site, I thought a little thicker one was a good thing. Maybe I'm wrong! As I said at the start, just looking for a stable, and somewhat forgiving Sunday flyer type. Excess speed is not required! Although it may have the ability to go FAST!

How true. But just for fun I printed out one at 10.51%, split the difference, and I will go with that one. Now just need to cut new templates. One more thing, not to worry about. Thaks for your expert help, much appreciated. Mark

Now that I have all the airfoils figured out, and most all the major components.
I though I'd put up some photo's I will use to figure out a method and sequence of this build. Everybody likes photo's!!

NOTE: As I mentioned above ( a method and sequence of this build) this is the only documentation I have to build from. These photo's, and drawing I posted previously, and WS and Length, are it!!!


Maybe I should call this "Cooler's Folly"
1)- a costly and foolish undertaking.
2)- unwise investment or expenditure.
3)- a whimsical or extravagant and often useless structure built to serve as a conversation piece. (I like this one)
